4-STATE SEARCH FINDS NO TRACE OF LOST PLANE

Authorities searched for a fourth day Sunday for an Ohio family whose plane left a North Carolina airport Tuesday and hasn't been seen since.

Bill Peoples of Powell, Ohio, his wife, Mary, their daughter, Nichole, 5, and his sons from a previous marriage, Nick, 13, and Nate, 11, were aboard the Cherokee Six single-engine plane. The family was returning home from a vacation.

The missing plane was reported to the U.S. Air Force on Thursday morning, and the Civil Air Patrol began a search that afternoon.

The plane left the Dare County Regional Airport in Manteo, N.C., headed for the Delaware Municipal Airport, about 15 miles north of Columbus, Ohio.

Capt. Anthony Biondo, a spokesman for the patrol, said planes were still searching in Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.

He said 142 patrol personnel participated in Saturday's search and 27 aircraft were used.

The patrol has opened a mission base at the Manteo airport. It will be staffed 24 hours a day for the duration of the search.

He expected the search to continue for at least a week.

The CAP asks that people with any information about the missing plane call Capt. Anthony Biondo at (919)977-2449. Collect calls will be accepted.
