2 TO RECEIVE ARTS RECOGNITION

Mimi Butler and Betty Carr Muse will be recognized Aug. 30 for outstanding support of the arts.

The two will receive the 1994 Perry F. Kendig award from The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge in a 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the home of Hollins College President Margaret O'Brien.

Butler has worked with children for more than 20 years, as a puppeteer with PIZZAZ and as the director of BEAUX-ARTS and EXCEL, summer camps in the visual and performing arts for children aged 3-13.

She also has donated her time to Festival in the Park, the Virginia Museum of Transportation and the Art Museum of Western Virginia.

Betty Carr Muse was involved in the development of Center in the Square and its five resident organizations. She has served on numerous boards locally and across the state, including the boards of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and Theater Virginia in Richmond.

The Perry F. Kendig award, named for the late arts patron and president of Roanoke College, was begun a decade ago to recognize outstanding individual and business contributions to the arts. Tickets and information may be obtained by calling the Arts Council office at 342-5790.

Ticket sales support an Arts Council scholarship fund for students seeking experience in the visual, performing or literary arts.
