BENNETT, Alice Freese, 90, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Vinton, died Friday, August 19, 1994, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was retired from civil service. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Roulstone, Grand Cayman, British West Indies, Lois Edwards, Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Louise R. Freese, Roanoke; also a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 1994, from the Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton with the Rev. H. Fleet Powell officiating. There will be no visitation prior to service. Lotz Vinton Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

BOCOOK, Gene, 60, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 1994, in a local hospital. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

BOUVIER, Haziel Neustadt, 69, of Roanoke, died Saturday, August 20, 1994. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

BROOKS, Mae Mullins, 94, of St. Louis, Mo., died Sunday, August 21, 1994, in St. Louis, Mo., where she had resided for the last eight years. She had been a resident of Roanoke from 1956 to 1986, and was a native of Logan, W. Va. She was one of eight children of Mary Justice and Nathaniel Mullins. She had been a long time resident of Charleston, W.Va., and Mrs. Brooks was an active member of the First Christian Church in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Leon Brooks. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Wallace Dinsmore of St. Louis, Mo., Natalie Brooks and Bill Aldrich, of Houston, Tx; granddaughters and husbands, Susan Dinsmore and Charles Goldner, of Little Rock, Ark.; Amy Aldrich and Mark Norman of Charlotte, N.C.; grandson and wife, Jeffrey Brooks and Elaine Aldrich, of Jakarta, Indonesia; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Erma Bowers, of St. Augustine, Fla. Graveside services will be in the Evergreen Burial Park, 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Jim Rivers officiating. Arrangements are by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

BROWN, Zula Perdue, 88, of Virginia Beach, died Monday, August 22, 1994, at Sentara Bayside Hospital. Mrs. Brown was formerly of Roanoke and attended the Church of the Nazarene. She was the widow of Grady Emmit Brown. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lorane B. and the Rev. Loren W. Gould, Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Dr. Roxanne Perryman, Columbus, Miss., Stephen G. Gould, Boston, Mass.; great-granddaughter, Nyssa Perryman; sisters, Mrs. Elsie Brown, Roanoke, Mrs. Nettie Johnson, Allen Park, Mich., Mrs. Josie Sink, Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lessie Perdue, Roanoke; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Euel Fox, the Rev. Loren W. Gould and the Rev. L. E. Humrich. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. CREASY, Curtis Malcolm, (``Lefty""), 61, of Rt. 4, Forest, died Monday, August 22, 1994, in Lynchburg from injuries received in a work related accident. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Sprouse Creasy. Born in Bedford Co., March 7, 1933, he was a son of the late Wyatt Edward (Ed) Creasy and Roxie Miear Creasy. He was a supervisor with Best Grading Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Barry (Rita) Moorefield, Rustburg, Mrs. Robert (June) Masencup, Lynchburg; one brother, Raymond L. Creasy, Forest; one sister, Christine Creasy Dooley, Bedford; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Creasy Masencup and Carson Hundley Masencup II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Alfred Creasy and Fred Alvin Creasy. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 1994, in Virginia Memorial Park by Dr. Marvin Go ld. The family will receive friends at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

DAVIES, Dorothy Dunn, 67, of Radford, passed away Monday, August 22, 1994, at Radford Community Hospital. She was a retired teacher in the Virginia School System having taught for over 30 years in Pulaski County and Radford City. Surviving are her husband, Harold Roth Davies of Radford; son, Charles Lester Dodson of Radford; daughters, Mrs. Denise Dodson Gabriel of Bedford County, Mrs. Patricia Davies VanVoorhees of Idaho; granddaughters, Sarah Nicole and Casey Leigh Dodson; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burton and Mrs. Nancy Minnick, both of Bristol, Va.; Mrs. Ruth Lewis of Ga., and Mrs. Louise Barger of Appomattox, Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the Seaver-Sanders and Mulli ns Funeral Home in Radford with Dr. William H. Jackson officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 35 East Main St., Christiansburg, Va., or to the Alzheimer's Association, 70 East Lake St., Chicago, Illinois 60601. DOWDY, Mary Elizabeth Turpin, 82, of Christiansburg, died early Tuesday, August 23, 1994, at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete E. Dowdy. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Wood, Martha Thomson, both of Christiansburg, Virginia Roop, Radford; one son, Roy Dowdy, Christiansburg; one sister, Carrie Songer, two special friends, Wayne A. Carroll and A. J. Martin. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 1994, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Phillip H. Price with burial in Sunset Cemetery. LEMON, Cynthia Ida, 68, of Salem, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in a local hospital. She was employed with Stuart-McGuire & Co. as a clerk for several years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness Congregation #829. Survivors include her husband, Thomas J. Lemon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie Sue Arnold, Roanoke Co., Rita Joyce and Steve Mountcastle; four grandchildren, Robert and Patrick Arnold and Renae and Rachel Mountcastle, Roanoke Co.; three sisters, Earline Feathers and Lois Stamper, both of Hardy, Patsy Saunders, Rocky Mount. MARLOWE, Warren Jefferson, ""Jeff"", 64, of Rehoboth Beach, Del., died Monday, August 22, 1994 at the VA Medical Center, Salem. Mr. Marlowe was born in Warren, Ohio on November 11, 1929. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech University and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jay Price, Blacksburg; a sister, Virginia Marlowe, Richmond; a niece, Kimerly V. Price, Sao Paulo, Brazil; a niece, Kimberly V. Price and husband, Michael Kellinger; a great-nephew, Andrew Kellinger and a great niece, Jocelyn Kellinger, all of Roanoke. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 25, in Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg with the Rev. Gary Schroeder officiating. No visitation. MASON, Lawson Elliott, 75, of Lexington, formerly of New Kensington, Pa., died Monday, August 22, 1994, at his residence. Born March 13, 1919, in Nova Scotia Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph Mason and Ethel Glawson Mason. He served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific in World War II, and was a retired Ceramic Engineer. Surviving are his wife, Wilma Stever Mason, Lexington; three daughters, Marilee Creelan, Uniontown, Ohio, Marjorie Page, Lexington, Lizbeth Mahon, San Diego, Calif., three sisters, Evelyn Timby, Batavia, N.Y., Madeline Ingalsbe, Sarasota, Fla., Marion Schmidt, Essexville, Mich.; also five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 25, 1994, from the Lexington Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard M. Webster officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home.

McCULLOUGH, Herbert Hoover, 65, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, August 19,1994 after a long illness. In addition to other survivors, included is a sister-in-law, Frances (Larry Nelson, Randolph, Mass. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church, with burial in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. MOUNTS, John M., 71, of Breaks, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in Buchanan General Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Louisa, Ky., but had been a resident of Buchanan County for 53 years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII, a member of American Legion Post 164, a retired miner for Harman Mining Corp., and a member of UMWA Local 7025. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Mullins Mounts, Breaks; one daughter, Nelladine Johnson, Tucker, Ga.; three sons, Jerry Owens, Frank Lockhart, Joe Lockhart, all of Breaks; one sister, JoAnna Bryant, Roanoke; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 25, 1994 at 11 a.m. at the Breaks Church of Christ with Jerry Edwards and Sam Casebolt in charge. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memoria l Park at Big Rock. A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post 164 and VFW Post 7360 of Grundy. The body will be taken to the Breaks Church of Christ, Wednesday at 6 p.m. where an evening service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Haysi Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

RICHIE, Lauza, 96, of Salem, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at his home. He was born in Kentucky and had been an area resident for the past 44 years. He retired as a Postmaster in Oakwood, Va. and was a civil service employee, with 25 years service. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Temple. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Davis Richie; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty R. and Benjamin F. Thomas, Old Hickory, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Susan T. Russell and Barbara Fitzgerald, both of Old Hickory, Tenn.; sisters, Allie Gayhard, Jessie Engles, Nora Fugate and Dean Richie, all of Kentucky; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 1994, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. R. Stuart Carlton officiating. ROBTISON, Opal Jo Ann, 56, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 1994. She was a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church. TAYLOR, Charles Welby, 85, of Salem, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in a Roanoke hospital. He was born in Clifton Forge and had been a long-time Salem resident. He retired from the Virginia Division of Forestry, after 32 years service as a Supervisor. He was also a WWII Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Thelma S. Taylor; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles ``Hank"" and Patricia Taylor, Abingdon; two granddaughters, Rachel and Sara Taylor, Abingdon; sister, Dorothy Taylor, Clifton Forge. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at 1 p.m. in the Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bobby J. McCormick officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30, prior to the service, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
