Mary Childress, representative of the Christmas Store, accepted a $300 check, the stores first contribution of the year, at CCHARM's annual Neighborhood Watch Picnic held Aug. 6.
In 1993 more than 1,200 families benefited from the Christmas Store. The goal for 1994 is to help 1,300 families. The CCHARM Neighborhood Program learned from the Christmas Store that each dollar donated to the store represents approximately $3.50 in spending power and that its donation of $300 equates to more than $1,000 in buying.
The CCHARM Neighborhood Watch Program would like to encourage and challenge other Neighborhood Watch Programs in the Christiansburg area to do something similar to help a needy organization in the community.
Neighborhood Watch Programs are established across the country with the help of local law enforcement agencies.
