FOR THE RECORD

New River Valley home sales totaled 420 in June, down 15.7 percent from 498 in June 1993. Because of incorrect figures reported by the Virginia Association of Realtors, a chart on the Aug. 7 Homes page contained errors.

\ Because of a reporter's errors, Booker T. Washington National Monument Superintendent Bill Gwaltney was incorrectly identified in a story in the Extra section on Aug. 19. The name of the special presentation at the monument was "The Place From Which I Came: Booker T. Washington Returns to Franklin County." The name of William Monroe Trotter, a contemporary and critic of Washington's, also was incorrect.

\ A story in Sunday's business section contained the wrong name for the new National Football League franchise in Charlotte, N.C. The name of the team is the Carolina Panthers.

\ The food served to Bill Monroe when he appeared at the New River Valley Fair in Dublin this month came from the concession booth run by the Newbern Volunteer Fire Department and Community Club. Because of a reporter's error, the supplier of the food was listed incorrectly in a story about Monroe in Sunday's Extra section.
