ARNOLD, Dean Early, 89, of Radford, died Wednesday, August 24, 1994, at Ridgefield Retirement Center in Salem. He was a retired employee of Norfolk & Southern Railway. Born July 16, 1905, he was the son of the late Arrington J. Early and Gillie Graham. He is survived by his daughter, Gladys Boyd of Radford. Also survived by two grandchildren, Donna Gail Boyd of Radford and Ron Dean Boyd of Roanoke. PEARSE, Emily Edmondson Penick, 92, of Lexington, died Monday, August 22, 1994 at Stonewall Jackson Extended Care Facility. Born in Lexington on March 28, 1902, she was the daughter of the late Paul McNeil Penick and Frances Monroe Penick. She was a retired hostess at Lee Chapel - Washington & Lee University and was a member of R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church. She had also served as an organist and choir director at Episcopal Churches in the Washington, D.C. area. She was a member of the Cathedral Choral Society and w as active in the musical and cultural life of the Cathedral, Washington, D.C. and Lexington, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic Montagu Penley Pearse Jr. who was an attorney for the Federal Power Commission for twenty years. She is survived by a son, Frederic Montagu Penley Pearse III of Plymouth, Mass.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Crater Pearse, Washington, D.C. and Paul Grove Pearse, Kitty Hawk, N.C. RICHARDSON, Dr. Emmett V. Sr., 87, of Marion, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994, in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home. He has been in practice in the area since 1947 as an eye, ear, nose and throat specialist. A member of E & H's class of 1927, Richardson earned a medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and interned at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, supervising medical work at all CCC camps in Virginia. During World War II, Richardson spent four years supervising medical facilities, including the 104th General Hospital in England which he operated. Following the war, he completed two years of advanced medical training in Philadelphia before moving to Marion to begin his practice. In Marion, Richardson is active in the First United Methodist Church, having served as chairman of the Board of Trustees. He also has held district offices in the church, and he was active in Kiwanis. He is survived by three sons, William Lee Richardson of Richmond, Va., Dr. Emmett V. Richardson, Jr. of Marion, Va. and J. Carroll Richardson of Kingsport, Tenn; six grandchildren, Jim Richardson, Deborah Richardson, Emmett Richardson III, Brent Richardson, Ryan Richardson and Anne Richardson; two great-grandchildren, Blake Richardson and Andrew Richardson. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. J. N. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery. SHANNON, Loretto Marie, 96, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 1994, in a local hospital following a brief illness. Loretto ``Rett'' was born in Lynn, Mass., on July 8, 1898. A member of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, she is survived by two nieces and a nephew, Dr. Gus V. and Anne Shannon Jackson, Richmond, David J. and Rosemarie Shannon, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Rosemary A. Shannon, Roanoke; also three great-nieces, three great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. ``Rett'' was a spirited, gracious lady who touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be missed by her family and many special friends. Private interment will be in St. Andrew's Diocesan Cemetery, Friday, August 26th at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by friends and family at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church, 11 a.m. Father Kenne th Stofft and the Reverend Robin Henrickson will officiate. Mr. Tallant was born at Monroe County, Tenn. on February 16, 1921, a son of the late Andrew Jackson Tallant, Sr. and Martha Williams Tallant. WHITE, Justin Tyler, 18, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, August 23, 1994. He is survived by his parents, William G. and Linda J. White; his sister, Heather L. White of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; his grandmothers, Mrs. Dorothy White of Sharon Hill, Pa. and Mrs. Jane Billig of Bloomsburg, Pa; his fiance, Ms. Dara Nicole Dalton; and her son, Cody Isaiah Dalton of Roanoke, Va. Justin was a 1994 honors graduate of Northside High School and the Arnold R. Burton Technology Center. He had received a 2 year certificate for Auto Technology, under Mr. Love and was, this spring, the 1st place winner in the VICA state finals for Auto Technology in Richmond. He was selected by his classmates as the 1993-94 Vica School President at Burton, and was a member of the Natural Helper Club. He was a reluctant leader, but served in an exemplary way whenever called upon. He loved soccer and played on teams since the first grade, and at 15, he became a referee to see the game from the other side of the flag. What ever Justin chose to do, he did with all of himself because he wanted to live life to it fullest measure. He worked for the Roanoke County Department of Transportation during the 1993-94 school year, which gave him confidence and skill. He was currently employed as an assistant to Darrell Dalton of Dalton's Heating and Air Conditioning, of Roanoke. He was to begin taking classes this fall at Virginia Western Community College, to gain technical certification in Heating and Air Conditioning. He was engagaed to Ms. Dara N. Dalton, and they were to be married on October 8, 1994, in Roanoke. Justin was a compassionate and caring young man with a bright future; all of his family and friends will miss him dearly. There will be a memorial service at the Hollins College Chapel on Saturday, August 27, 1994, at 3 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Justin T. White Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 9515, Roanoke, Va. 24020.
