AMERICAN TEAMS VICTORIOUS AT NAB ALL STAR GAMES

The American All Stars recently claimed two victories over the National All Stars in the National Adult Baseball Association All Star games.

The American 18+ All Stars defeated the National 18+ All Stars 8-3. Tony Huddleston, member of the Roanoke Valley Reds, was the American Most Valuable Player. Shawn Price of the Panthers was the National MVP.

The American 30+ team defeated the National 30+ team 13-5. Paul Thompson of the Roanoke Stars was the American MVP. Glen Christy of the Roanoke Royals was the the National MVP.

Golf tourney will raise funds for MDA

The Stop In Food Stores Captain's Choice golf tournament, a fund-raiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will be held Sept. 13 and 14 at Hunting Hills golf course.

A raffle will be held during the tournament's reception, which begins Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. All proceeds from the two day tournament support services for valley MDA families.

Captain's Choice golf tourney set for Sept. 16

The Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring an 18-hole Captain's Choice tournament Sept. 16 at Hanging Rock Golf Club.

Prizes include a new Saturn SL1 for a hole-in-one on hole number six, a round trip ticket for two from U.S. Air for a hole-in-one on hole number three, and $5,000 for a hole-in-one on hole number twelve. A free clinic will be held by PGA professional Chip Sullivan.

Players may enter a four-person team or sign up as a single or pair. The $50 fee includes green fees, cart, continental breakfast, lunch buffet and an after hours social sponsored by Holiday Inn Tanglewood.

S.W. county girls take gold at soccer tourney

The Southwest County United under 14 Girl's Soccer Team won four consecutive games to earn the gold medal at the 1994 Commonwealth Games Soccer Tournament.

Team members are: Sarah Payne, Erin Callahan, Bevin Swisher, Whitney Cole, Rhonada Rusmisel, Carrie Saunders, Allison Manetta, Anna Hamilton, Lori Wilson, Kim Barlow, Kim Amos, Marli McAden, Jessica Altizer, Dana Woods-Allen, Carie Bauman, Jessica Norris and Amber Neil.

The team's coach is Tony Park.
