BLACK WOMAN ADDED TO ECONOMIC PANEL

FREDERICKSBURG - A day after a reporter asked why all 32 people appointed by Gov. George Allen to the Regional Economic Development Advisory Council were white, a black woman was added to it.

A reporter for The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg asked state officials Tuesday about the lack of racial diversity on the panel.

The governor's office announced Wednesday that Shelby Robinson, a black woman, had been added. Robinson is the director of the Virginia Employment Commission's Job Services office in Fredericksburg.
