Foster, a 55-year-old communications technician for The Associated Press who is playing in his first Senior Am, took advantage of the wildness and erratic play of New Market's Bob Moyers for a 7-and-6 victory in Saturday morning's quarterfinals at The Homestead resort's Cascades Course.
In the semifinals Saturday afternoon, Foster used a strong back-nine attack to eliminate Don Ragland of Vinton, 4 and 3.
Beecroft, who has won the title in even two-year intervals since 1986, was a 2-and-1 winner over Dan Keffer of Roanoke in the quarterfinals. He moved into the finals with a 3-and-2 triumph over Wayne Jackson of Gloucester.
Foster never trailed Ragland by winning the first, sixth and seventh holes with two pars and a bogey, giving him a 3-up lead.
Ragland, a 55-year-old Norfolk & Western railway clerk, struggled, winning his first hole of the match with a 3 on the par-3 eighth to trail by two holes at the turn.
Foster birdied the par-4 10th but lost 11 to Ragland's regulation 3. That was Ragland's last victory of the match.
Foster went 3-up with a 4 at the par-4 13th and ended it with a regulation 3 on 15.
Beecroft, a 64-year-old clothing store executive, trailed Jackson, a 59-year-old semi-retired insurance executive, by a one-hole margin through the first nine holes. Beecroft evened the match with an even-par 3 on No. 11 and went in front by two holes with victories on 12 and 13.
Beecroft captured the 15th with a par-3 and ended the match on the par-5 525-yard 16th.
Ragland moved to the semifinals with a 4-and-3 morning victory over Ian Halkett of McLean while Jackson, during his morning victory, eliminated Frank Summers Jr. of Staunton, 4 and 3.
