Community chorus

RADFORD - New River Valley Community Chorus rehearsals begin Thursday, Sept 8, 7:15 p.m., in 101 Powell Hall, Radford University. The chorus presents Gounod's "St. Cecilia Mass" and music for the holiday season at its December concerts.

Trash pickup Monday

PULASKI - The Pulaski County Public Service Authority announces that there will be no interruption in garbage collection on Monday, Labor Day. All garbage trucks will be operating on regular schedules.

NRV Spelling Bee

BLACKSBURG - The Montgomery County Rotary Club will sponsor the second annual New River Valley Spelling Bee on Friday, Sept. 23 at Custom Catering.

Local businesses, educational departments and organizations may select teams of three members to participate. The master of ceremonies will be John Carlin, news anchor for WSLS in Roanoke.

Proceeds from the event will benefit community and literacy programs in the county.
