Because of a reporter's error, a story Saturday about cable franchise fees overstated the amount Roanoke spends on operations for a government and educational access channel. The city of Roanoke is spending $66,153 this year on operations for Channel 3, according to Michelle Bono, the city's public information officer.
The city may spend up to one-fifth of the franchise fees it collects annually for the public access channel, she said. This year, franchise fees to the city are expected to total about $600,000.
