Moon exhibit

The exhibit ``One Giant Leap: Our Journey to the Moon'' opens today at the Science Museum of Western Virginia in downtown Roanoke.

This traveling exhibit celebrates the 25th anniversary of man's lunar landing and includes flights suits, a flag that has been to the moon, a videotape of the landing and a large model rocket display.

Mini-exhibits associated with ``One Giant Leap'' include a model rocket display, space art including works by Frank Kelly Freas and artifacts from local collectors, newspapers and magazines from 1969 and commemorative postage stamps.

Former astronaut Jon McBride will speak Oct. 15 in the Hopkins Planetarium at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30-3:30 p.m. He will also sign the book ``Before Lift Off, The Making of A Space Shuttle Crew'' in the museum's store from noon-1 p.m.

The planetarium will be showing ``Space Shuttle'' through October and well as ``Footsteps.'' On Oct. 15, a ``Skywatch'' will include the ``Return to the Moon'' star show from 6-7 p.m.

The museum in Roanoke's Center in the Square is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 1-5 p.m. Admission is $4 adults, $2.50 children 3-12 and senior citizens.

Comedy show at Roanoke College

Talk show host and comedian Bertice Berry will headline the Roanoke College Program Board's Parents Weekend '94 Comedy Show tonight at 9 p.m. in the school's Bast Center.

Selected Hilarity, a comedy troupe from Raleigh, N.C., will open the show.

Tickets are $10 for general admission. All seats are reserved.
