Johnson, a senior who plays running back and middle linebacker, set up the winning score by intercepting a pass from Chris Boykin and returning it to the Hargrave 35-yard line. Bradley Densmore squashed the Tigers' final scoring opportunity by intercepting another Boykin pass in the waning minutes.
Johnson finished with 159 yards rushing and scored all three touchdowns for the Raiders (3-1 overall, 1-0 VIC). He also notched 64 receiving yards from quarterback Hal Johnson who completed 8 of 25 for 117 yards.
Sophomore Nick Saint led Hargrave (2-2, 0-1) with 129 yards rushing, including a 76-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

DANVILLE - The Colonels had three first downs and only 26 yards in total offense and remained winless after five games.
The Eagles (4-1) had 339 yards in total offense, but lost five fumbles, three on consecutive possessions in the first quarter. Fleming twice took possession inside the George Washington 20-yard line but failed to score.
Fleming's defense was stout for periods of the game, but was victimized by the offense. GW's last touchdown, with 8 minutes, 20 seconds remaining, came when the Eagles pounced on a ball that had been centered over the Fleming punter's head.

Quarterback Corey Willis ran for three touchdowns in his first start and running back Eric East rushed 31 times for 198 yards and one touchdown as the Highlanders rolled past the visiting Knights in the Pioneer District opener for both teams.
Willis had scoring runs of 1, 36 and 11 yards and a two-point conversion. East ran for a 12-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion as Glenvar (3-1, 1-0) amassed 300 yards rushing.
Passing was the key for James River (1-4, 0-1). Quarterback Travis Blankenship threw two touchdown passes, one for 69 yards and the other for 65, to Johnny Burrell. Blankenship threw for a total of 167 yards.

MONETA - Mike Padgett passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Minutemen past the Golden Eagles in a Seminole District game.
Greg Reynolds was on the receiving end of both of Padgett's scoring tosses. Padgett's 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Liberty (3-2).
Kevin Martin scored all three touchdowns for Staunton River (1-3, 1-3). Martin converted on runs of 3, 2 and 2 yards and finished with 137 yards total on 31 carries.

DALEVILLE - Senior running back Gary Tyree rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns to lift the Wildcats to their first Blue Ridge District victory.
Rockbridge (2-3, 1-1) led 14-0 at the half before blowing the game open in the third quarter on runs of 47 and 1 yard by Tyree for his second and third touchdowns.
It was 33-0 before the Cavaliers (1-3, 0-1) got on the scoreboard with approximately seven minutes remaining on a 46-yard run by Wesley Cox, who finished with 131 yards on 21 carries.

ROCKY MOUNT - The Hilltoppers scored on their first eight possessions and remained undefeated by pounding the Eagles in a non-district game.
By halftime, E.C. Glass (5-0) had 306 yards to 79 for Franklin County (2-3).
E.C. Glass quarterback Andre Kendrick scored three of the four times he carried the ball and completed all six of his passes.
Franklin County's lone touchdown came with 2:27 remaining in the game when Gray Hodges scored on a 3-yard run.
