ROANOKE MAN KILLED IN WRECK

A Roanoke man was killed Saturday afternoon on Interstate 81 when a vehicle crossed the median strip and crashed into his car.

Jackie Lee Fisher, 39, was heading south on I-81 in Botetourt County about two miles south of the Rockbridge County line at about 1:20 p.m. The driver of a car in the northbound lanes lost control and ran into the southbound lanes, according to a state police report. The car glanced off a pickup truck before colliding with Fisher's car.

Fisher died at the scene, the report said.

The driver of the car that hit Fisher, whose name was not available, was charged with reckless driving, according to the report.

The report did not say if anyone else was injured.
