ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ON COUNCIL AGENDA

Pulaski Town Council will hear from the owner of the Renaissance Restaurant during its 4 p.m. meeting today on the subject of economic development.

Paul Etzel has registered to address the governing body. Etzel is one of a growing number of new business people who have occupied stores and buildings along Main Street and in Pulaski's downtown business section in the past two years.

Council's Finance Committee deadlocked 4-4 last Thursday on making a funding recommendation for a five-year economic development program outlined by a study committee headed by Councilman John Stone. Mayor Andy Graham broke the tie, voting down the proposed funding of $150,000 until it can be studied further.

All eight council members attended the committee meeting. Etzel's comments are likely to deal with the study group's proposal, which included funding and hiring an economic developer and appointing an economic development board to carry out the program.

In other business, council will hold a public hearing on Samuel Austin's request for a conditional use permit to operate a game room and pool hall at 143 Randolph Ave., and proclaim October as Crime Prevention Month in\ Pulaski.
