Lambda Horizons - Virginia Tech's lesbian, bisexual and gay student union - has announced an expanded schedule of activities to observe National Coming Out Day. The organization kicks off a two-week series of activities Wednesday, Oct. 5, with an information display at Squires Student Center, Virginia Tech. The display will remain open daily until Oct. 18.

Saturday, Oct. 8, a coming out "funeral" - where participants will bury something symbolizing their former selves - will be held near the gazebo at the Virginia Tech Duck Pond.

Coming Out Day is Tuesday, Oct. 11. It will be observed with a rally, 5-9 p.m., on the lawn of Henderson Hall, Virginia Tech.

Other activities include a movie festival Oct. 15, noon-6 p.m., in 100 Burke Johnston Student Center (under the Burger King), and a commitment ceremony Sunday, Oct. 16, noon-2 p.m., in Commonwealth Room B, Squires Student Center.

National Coming Out Day activities conclude with a reception Monday, Oct. 17, in the Williamsburg Room, Squires Student Center.
