DROWNED WOMAN'S BODY RECOVERED

Divers recovered the body of a Wytheville woman Monday who drowned in Claytor Lake Sunday night.

Jean Kesner Alley, 53, apparently left her car, with the motor running and headlights on, parked on the Light House Bridge on Lowman's Ferry Road around 10:30 p.m. and jumped into the lake 20 feet below.

Alley left a note in the car and attached a weight to her body, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, which has ruled the death a suicide.

Her body was found in about 40 feet of water after divers searched the area Sunday night and Monday morning.
