NATIONAL DEPRESSION SCREENING DAY: Thursday, 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, U.S. 114, 1/2 mile from U.S. 11 near Radford. A written self-test and multi-media educational presentation will be provided by a mental health professional.

Symptoms of depression included:

Feelings of sadness or irritability

Loss of interest or pleasure in activities

Changes in weight, appetite or sleeping patterns

Lack of energy

Thoughts of suicide

Depression is an illness and can be successfully treated. Persons who feel they may be suffering from clinical depression, or friends and family members are invited to attend.

The free screening is sponsored the Mental Health Association of the New River Valley and Saint Albans Psychiatric Hospital and is totally confidential.
