Animal shelter raffle

BLACKSBURG - The Humane Society of Montgomery County will conduct a Virginia Artisans Raffle through Nov. 5 to support its "no-kill" shelter.

Prizes given away include: a handmade antique guilt, an original painting by Robert Tuckwiller and a handmade rocking chair. Tickets can be purchased at $1 each or six for $5, calling 953-2750.

Giles craft show

NARROWS - Exhibitor applications are being accepted for the Giles Arts and Crafts Guild's 17th annual Christmas show and sale to be held Saturday, Nov. 12 in the old Narrows High School Annex. Call Florine Ferrell, 726-2615 or Elva Davis, 726-2141.

Bowling league

CHRISTIANSBURG - Leisure Directions, Area 9 Special Olympics and the Christiansburg Department of Recreation will begin their Unified Bowling League on Oct. 15 at Triangle Lanes.

The league, open to all regardless of ability, will bowl Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The cost is $2.50 for two lines of bowling including shoe rental.

Radford barbecue

RADFORD - The Radford City Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual barbecue, Sunday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at the station house at 1500 Wadsworth St.

Dinners include barbecue, cole slaw and chips for $3.50. Barbecue is also available for $5 per pound. Fire equipment will be on display. Call 731-3617.
