ALLEGHANY HANGS ON FOR WIN OVER NORTHSIDE

Northside's Tanya Holmes didn't get off the final shot before the buzzer, and Alleghany got away with a 51-50 Blue Ridge District girls basketball victory in the Vikings' gym Thursday night.

Holmes' long jumper at the buzzer was good, but ofrficials ruled that her shot came too late. It was the second missed opportunity for Northside (3-7 overall, 0-2 in the district).
