RURAL RETREAT TRIPS COUNTY RIVAL 57-49

Tanya Tarter keyed a third-quarter surge that propelled Rural Retreat to a 57-49 girls' basketball victory over George Wythe in a Hogoheegee District match-up of Wythe County rivals Thursday night.

Tarter, a 5-10 forward, got the ball inside George Wythe's 1-2-1 zone and scored 10 points in the defensive third period. Rural Retreat (8-4, 5-4) outscored the Maroons 21-12, turning a two-point halftime lead into a 42-31 advantage.
