DUBLIN ACCEPTS PROPERTY FROM BURLINGTON

The town of Dublin has accepted a property donation from Burlington Industries to expand its industrial park.

Town Council approved the donation agreement at a special meeting Thursday night, following a closed session. The donation covers 170 acres of land and 406,000 square feet of building space in the former Klopman Mills Newbern plant.

The industrial park previously totaled 101 acres, and 11 buildings with 126,000 square feet of improved space.

Companies already in the park include suppliers to the Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corp. and others using space for warehousing, shipping or receiving.

Mayor Benny Keister and council originated the industrial park concept in 1990. They obtained property from Burlington in 1993.

The town is expected to close on the new property within a few weeks. Keister said the town appreciates Burlington's support and encouragement of industrial development and job creation in the area.
