LITTON POLY-SCIENTIFIC MEETS ISO STANDARDS

Litton Poly-Scientific on Friday celebrated receiving certification that the company has complied with the 1994 ISO standards.

These quality standards are set for manufacturers and service companies by the International Organization for Standardization and are rapidly becoming a requirement to do business in European countries.

Companies adhering to the standards are periodically audited by certified agencies.

The last set of ISO standards was established in 1987. The 1994 version has tighter standards and requires more stringent documentation to ensure quality control, said Ernie Wade, vice president and general manager of the Blacksburg plants.

On Friday, local dignitaries and workers gathered at the plant at the edge of Blacksburg. The plant manufacturers slip rings that transfer electrical currents and security devices. It employs about 600 workers.
