Norfolk State (3-2, 3-2) could not contain Richard Huntley, who rushed for 248 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries. Huntley scored on a 1-yard plunge and on a 5-yard run.

William and Mary 17

Northeastern 12

WILLIAMSBURG - Troy Keen gained 157 yards on 37 carries, and backup quarterback Matt Byrne threw for two touchdowns as the Tribe beat Northeastern in a Yankee Conference game.

The Tribe (5-1, 3-0) was without starting quarterback Shawn Knight, who sprained an ankle in last weekend's loss to Virginia.

Byrne was 12-of-22 for 251 yards and two interceptions. The junior quarterback threw scoring passes on each of the first two Tribe possessions. The first was a 33-yarder to Josh Whipple and the second a 35-yarder to Michael Tomlin.

Delaware State 22

Liberty 17

LYNCHBURG - The Hornets defense knocked down a fourth-and-goal pass in the end zone with less than a minute to play to preserve a victory over the Flames.

Liberty (1-4) had one final chance. With seven seconds remaining, Antwan Chiles' desperation 69-yard pass fell incomplete in the Delaware State end zone.

The Hornets' (3-2) winning score was set up by a Liberty fumble at the Delaware 44.

Fabian Thorne had 109 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for Delaware State. He scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards.

Chiles was 44-of-26 for 331 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also scored on a 1-yard run.

James Madison 30

Delaware 10

NEWARK, Del. - Mike Cawley threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another score, as the Dukes defeated mistake-prone Delaware in a Yankee Conference game.

James Madison (4-1, 2-1) took advantage of five turnovers to score 21 first-half points and take a 24-7 lead over the Blue Hens at the half.

Delaware (2-3, 1-3), which lost its second straight game, had an 11-game conference home winning streak dating to 1991 snapped.

The Blue Hens mounted an impressive drive to open the second half but were forced to settle for a 32-yard Sean Leach field goal. Later in the third period, Delaware was stopped on downs inside the James Madison 5-yard line.

James Madison kicker John Coursey contributed three field goals, including a career-long 45-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Maine 24

Richmond 10

RICHMOND - Emilio Colon threw two touchdown passes, and Maine's defense stopped two Richmond drives inside the 5 as the Black Bears beat the Spiders.

Richmond (3-3) came as close as 14-10 with a 27-yard field goal by Grayson Masters with 2:18 remaining in the first half.

But the Bears (2-4) came back with a 74-yard drive in the final two minutes of the half that ended with a 30-yard scoring pass from Colon to Drew O'Connor with 22 seconds remaining.

Earlier in the quarter, Aaron Terry stopped Spider quarterback Joe Elrod short of the goal on a fourth-and-one play from the 1.

In the fourth quarter, the Maine defense did it again, this time stuffing Minoso Rodgers for no gain on a fourth-and-one from the Bears 5.

Colon also had a 15-yard scoring pass to Ray Baur on the Bear's first possession of the game. Colon was 9-of-15 for 118 yards.

Richmond senior Uly Scott, who had 111 yards on 16 carries, cut the lead to 14-7 on a 70-yard run in the first quarter. It was Scott's longest run from scrimmage in his college career.

The only scoring in the second half was Chris Binder's 20-yard field goal with 9:08 left in the third quarter.

Washington and Lee 9

Davidson 3

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Seth McKinley ran 2 yards to score Washington and Lee's first touchdown of the season and the Generals held on to beat the Wildcats.

Washington and Lee (1-3) had scored only two points in three losses before Saturday - a safety in the opening game. The Generals exceeded that total on Drew Thomas' 39-yard field goal in the first quarter that culminated a drive which began when Stuart Hogue intercepted a Davidson pass in the W&L end zone.

Davidson (0-4) had driven to the Washington and Lee 3-yard line, where the Wildcats had a first-and-goal. Hogue stopped the drive with his interception, which he returned to the 30. Hogue also had a fourth-quarter interception that thwarted another Davidson drive.

McKinley scored with 6:12 remaining in the third period after James Urban returned a punt 32 yards to the Wildcat 18.
