TUNSTALL TOPS CAVALIERS WITH RALLY

COLLINSVILLE - Tunstall overcame an 11-point deficit and held on to beat Fieldale-Collinsville 19-18 in a Piedmont District high school football game Friday night.

Chris Martin's 1-yard run with 1:30 left in the third quarter put Tunstall ahead. In the fourth quarter, F-C's Tamorris Harper was stopped short of a first down on fourth-and-two from the Tunstall 25. F-C got the ball back with 1:37 left and drove to the Tunstall 33, but Delvin Joyce fumbled after a 4-yard reception and Tunstall recovered with 26 seconds left.

Fieldale, which failed on three two-point conversion attempts, is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the district. Tunstall is 3-2 and 2-2.

Bland County 46

Council 12

BLAND - Bland County romped to an easy non-district victory over visiting Council as quarterback David Lambert threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns on only four completions.

Bland County (4-1 overall) also had 145 first-half rushing yards. Council fell to 0-6.

Fort Chiswell 33

Auburn 18

RINER - Adam Morgan won the battle of quarterbacks by completing 8 of 13 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns as the Pioneers won a non-district game.

Morgan completed two scoring strikes to Gary Arnold, and Kevin Beasley rushed for two touchdowns for Fort Chiswell (2-4).

Beasley's first touchdown came on a 1-yard run and it gave the Pioneers a 21-0 lead in the second quarter.

Jeremy Akers passed for 189 yards and completed 12 of 32 attempts for Auburn (0-6). He threw touchdown passes to Bradley Hudgins and Kenny Wojciechowski.
