ALDERMAN, Lizzie Mae, 77, of Willis, passed away Saturday, October 8, 1994 at Twin County Hospital, Galax. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Shirley Ann Goad and Donnie Alderman of Willis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Bryan Childress officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Maberry Funeral Home.

ANGLE, Ethilene Fleshman., 81, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 8, 1994. She was a member of Westhampton Christian Church. Surviving are her husband, Ryland M. Angle; one son, David R. Angle, both of Roanoke; two sisters, Bernice F. Rushbrook and Eunice F. Angle; a brother, Howard F. Fleshman, all of Roanoke; three nephews; six nieces; and numerous other relatives. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 1994 at Sherwood Memorial Park, with the Rev. James Rivers officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.

ATKINS, Dorothy Akers, 71, of 330 Deadmore Street, Abingdon, Va. died Sunday, October 9, 1994, at her residence. She was a lifelong Abingdon resident and was a member of the Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of William A. ``Bear'' Atkins. Survivors include one daughter, Patty Rhea Atkins of Salem, Va.; her son-in-law, Randall M. Hancock of Salem, Va.; one sister, Elizabeth Taylor of Metairie, La.; one aunt, Grace L. White of Abingdon, Va.; one granddaughter, Marcie Isabel Hancock of Salem, Va.; and special friends, Joey Lloyd and David Lloyd of Abingdon, Va. Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Akers Atkins will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the graveside in Knollkreg Memorial Park with The Rev. Betty C. Reiff officiating. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to the United Parkinsons Foundation, 360 West Superior Stre et, Chicago, Ill 60610. BAILEY, Lidia Ramirez, 73, of New Castle, died Sunday, October 9, 1994, in a Salem Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Burgess Bailey; four sons, Burgess Bailey Jr., New Mexico, Thomas Bailey, Cloverdale, William Bailey and Eric Bailey of New Castle ; two daughters and son-in-law, Marie and Joseph McCarthy, Botetourt Co., Juanita Johnson, Bristol; stepmother, Rosa Ramirez of New York; five grandchildren. CANNADAY, Julia Plybon, 88, of Route 3, Rocky Mount, died Saturday, October 8, 1994, in a Roanoke Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Cannaday; a son, Dean Cannaday and a son-in-law, Carlton Motley. Mrs. Cannaday was the oldest member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Margaret Koger Motley, Shelba and Billy Bousman of all Rocky Mount, Helen and Bobby Teague, Collinsville, Betsy and Marvin Shepherd, Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Brenda Koger, Ringgold; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Nancy Voorhees, Rocky Mount, Antholine Howell, Bas sett and Dossie Martin, Roanoke; one brother, Ed Plybon, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, in Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glenn Voss and Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Creek Memorial Gardens at the Snow Creek Christian Church. DECKER, Charles D., of Buena Vista, died Sunday, October 9, 1994, at his residence. He was born in Rockbridge County, Va. son of the late Donnie W. and Inez Powell Decker. He was retired from Burlington Industries as a machine operator. He was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Hypes Decker; one sister, Ruby D. Riddle, of Buena Vista; two brothers, Tate E. Decker of Buena Vista and Ralph P. Decker of Dillwyn, Va.; eight nieces and nephews and a number of great-nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 1994, from the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Shumaker officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. EPLING, Roy Edmond, 66, of Narrows, died Saturday, October 8, 1994. Born on June 12, 1928, he was the son of the late William and Lucy Page Epling. He was a retired employee of Hoechst Celanese Corporation. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Epling of Spartansburg, S.C. and Mel Epling of Washington; a sister, Lala Arrington, Goose Creek, S.C.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 1994, in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service, Narrows, with the Rev. Arnold Gillespie officiating. RICE, Spencer James, 78, of Narrows, died Saturday, October 8, 1994, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg. Born in Giles County on November 24, 1915, he was the son of the late Claborne and Georgia Epling Rice. He was a retired foreman with Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are two brothers, Bill Rice, Narrows, Cliff Rice, Rich Creek; two sisters, Myrtle Ferguson, Narrows and Nina Weiss, Princeton, W. Va. SWEENEY, Geraldine E., 75, of 750 Tall Oaks Dr., Blacksburg, died Saturday, October 8, 1994 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home. She was born September 14, 1919 in Christiansburg, Va. to the late Squire E. Sweeney and Florence L. Sweeney. She retired from the Federal Government as a Dental Assistant. She is survived by one brother, Wallace Sweeney, Christiansburg; one sister, Zenith V. Sewall, Washington, D.C.; and a devoted friend, William A. Lester. VAUGHT, James Basil, 68, of Vinton, died Sunday, October 9, 1994. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis W. Vaught, and is survived by his wife, Mary G. Vaught; son, Kenneth R. Vaught, Stewartsville; daughter, Ann M. Vaught, Vinton; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Rommie Brown, Salem. VEST, Roy Coleman, 87, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, October 9, 1994 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Vest was born November 27, 1906 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Levi Hiram Vest and Hattie Hamilton Vest. He was a member of the First Brethren Church and was retired from Georgia Bonded Fibers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Neice Vest. Surviving are a son, Roy Lee Vest, Buena Vista; a daughter, Betty Vest Rhodes, Buena Vista; two brothers, Yockley Vest, Houston Vest, both of Buena Vista; a sister, Annie Lilley, Buena Vista; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 1994, at the First Brethren Church, with Dr. Paul R. Fink and the Rev. James Kennedy officiating.
