TECH PRESIDENT HONORED BY PA. ALMA MATER

Virginia Tech President Paul Torgersen received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., over the weekend.

The honor came at the university's annual Founder's Day ceremonies Sunday. Torgersen, who earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering in 1953, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering.

The former long-time dean of Tech's College of Engineering holds both a master's degree and Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
