STRIKE FORCE SUMMARY

The governor's blue ribbon strike force recommendation that automobile dealers become self-regulating, much like attorneys and CPAs, worries Jean Ann Fox, president of Virginia Citizens Consumer Council.

Self-regulation might not provide the controls that resulted in a recent crackdown on 19 car dealers in the Tidewater area for things such as mishandling of titles, use of unlicensed sales people and misuse of dealer tags, Fox said.
