The Muscular Dystrophy Association is holding its first "Great Walk for Jerry's Kids" Oct. 30 in Wasena Park.
The three-mile walk is open to all and participants are encouraged to enter costume and pumpkin carving contests in observance of Halloween.
All proceeds will support local program services in Southwest and Central Virginia, such as summer camp, support groups and monthly MDA clinics at Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center. Call 772-3237.
Botetourt residents win at horse tourney
Wendy E. Heath of Botetourt, with her horse General Sherman, won second place in the Country Pleasure Horse Championship.
Carrie A. Endicott also of Botetourt, with her horse Cracker Jack, won first place in the championship.
