BOVARD, Ellen Dale, 67, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994, at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley. Mrs. Bovard was born in Clarion, Pa. on May 1, 1927, a daughter of the late Fred E. Sr. and Helen E. Clabotts Dale. She retired January 1994 as Executive Secretary with the Alumni Association at VA Tech and was an active volunteer parent in transporting camper to and from camp in the Front Royal area. Survivors include her husband, Kenly P. Bovard; one daughter, Kathleen Bovard, Pearisburg; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Susanne Bovard, Rockville, M.D. and David Bovard, Denver, Colo.; two granddaughters, Rian and Niki Bovard, Denver, Colo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred E., Jr. and Marie Dale, Lower Burrell, Pa. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 1994, at McCoy Funera l Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard E. Bethune officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to, Mary Ellen Bovard Scholarship Endowdment, at Camp Virginia Jayccees, Route 1, Box 860, Blue Ridge, VA 24064, to help send mentally retarted citizens to camp. CAMPBELL, Jennings Earl, 84, of Goode, passed away, Tuesday, October 11, 1994, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born October 31, 1909 in Covington, a son of the late Charles Edward Campbell and Ruth Bryant Campbell Day. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 y ears, Eula Carter Hodges Campbell. He was a member of the New Tabernacle Baptist Church, Bedford and was formerly a member of the Jennings Creek Gospel Church, Buchanan. He was former owner of the Campbellville Park, Buchanan, and also of the former Candlelite Restaurant, Goode. He was a member of the James Evans No. 72 Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star #148, Buchanan, the Scottish Rites, Roanoke, a member of the Kazim Temple, Roanoke, was a 32nd Degree Mason - Past District Deputy, Grand Master of the 22nd Masonic District in 1971. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army during the Philipine Liberation. He is survived by his former wife, Frances Woodford Wiles, Florida; his present wife of 16 years, Sharon Krzic Campbell; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Jackie Campbell, Mooresville, N.C., Rev. Robert and Christine Campbell Anchorage, AK, Jim and Glenda Campbell, Glasgow, Va., Dennis and Christine Campbell, Ethridge, Tenn.; one daughter, Annie Campbell, Endicott, N.Y.; three sisters, Iva Burford, Lynchburg, Lena Peeler, Bayonet Pt., Fla., Christine Leach, Geneva, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 14, 1994, noon from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford by the Rev. Chester Carter. Interment, with Masonic Rites will follow in the Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg.

CLEMENT, Vashti T., 87, of Blue Ridge, died Wednesday, October, 12, 1994, in a local hospital. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Lavona Thomas, of Rocky Mount; a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, October 14, 1994, at Glade Creek Cemetery, Botetourt County, with the Rev. Philip E. Ayers officiating. DILLON, Clegard, (``Calhoun''), 64, of Glade Hill, died Thursday, October 13, 1994, at his home. He was the son of the late Lewis Elbert and Mary Ella Brooks Dillon. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rural Dillon. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Mae Holland Dillon; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna and Larry Wright, Callaway, Va. and Kathy Dillon; a special daughter of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Dottie Dillon, Roanoke, Va. and Everett and Lisa Dillon, Wirtz, Va.; one sister and brother-in-law, Daisy Ann and Henry Manning, Wirtz, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Buelah Dillon, Glade Hill, Va.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a special friend, Paul Dillon, Glade Hill, Va. DUDDING, Oscar Berlin Jr., (``Butch""), 52, of Pembroke, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994 in a work-related accident. Born in Giles County on September 14, 1942, he was a son of Oscar B. Sr. and Lorraine Martin Dudding of the Maybrook Community near Pembroke. He was a loving husband, son and father, was a member of Lucas Memorial Christian Church, a graduate of Newport High School in the class of 1960, and was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Thomas Dudding; his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Ashley Thomas and Kristen Cook Dudding of Greensboro, N.C.; sons, Travis Clark Dudding and Jonathan Clay Dudding, both of Blacksburg; a daughter, Candra Cupp Linkous of Christiansburg; a bro ther, Benjiman Robert Dudding of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brooke Dudding, Heather Camille Linkous, Hannah Danielle Linkous and Jared Hunter Linkous. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Lucas Memorial Christian Church in the Maybrook Community, with the Rev. James Belcher officiating. MONTGOMERY, Pauline Brumfield, 87, of 607 Biltmore Ave., Lynchburg, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John Henry Montgomery. Born April 10, 1907 in Roanoke, she was a daughter of the late Bunyan Byrd and Sarah Anne Caldwell Brumfield. She was a member of the Lynchburg Womens Club, the Fort Hill Womens Club, the Noblettes and was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred B. and S. P. Montgomery of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, Paxton T. Montgomery, Buchanan; nephews and nieces, J. Robert Montgomery, Susan M. Douthat, Marie B. Montgomery, Gay B. C lark, David B. Baumgardner Jr., Paul B. Turner, Henry E. Turner Jr., Mary M. Bryant, P. T. Montgomery Jr., Charles I. Montgomery, Betty M. May, Margaret M. Nathe, Grace M. Alexander, Sara M. Britt, Doris M. PARKER, Ada Bell Carter, 88, of Route 1, Thaxton, died Thursday, October 13, 1994, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born December 22, 1905 in Bedford County, the daughter of the late Allie Carter and Fannie Overstreet Carter. She was a member of Cool Springs Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Price Parker and a son, Winston Wayne Parker. She is survived by five sons, H. Price Parker, Bedford, Kenneth B. Parker, Willie Jack Parker, Graham G. Parker and Tommy S. Parker, all of Thaxton; three daughters, Eleanor Mae Overstreet and Judith Dianne Heck, both of Thaxton, Mary Alice Amos, Bedford; also 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 1994, at Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in the Parker Family Cemetery. PEDIGO, Carl Hammond, 84, of Salem, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994, in a Salem hospital. He is survived by his wife, Hester Payne Pedigo; one daughter, Betty C. Armistead, Virginia Beach; one sister, Catherine Stone, Galax; three grandchildren, Cynthia Hickey, Crofton, Md., Julie Armistead and David Armistead, Virginia Beach. REYNOLDS, Scott Fariss, 23, of Blue Ridge, beloved son of Gary and Faye Reynolds, died Tuesday, October 11, 1994, in North Carolina, as a result of an automobile accident. He was employed at Beach World in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church. In addtion to his parents, he is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Sonja R. and Monty Bruce; his wife, Yvonne (Britta) Reynolds; his maternal grandmother, Thelma C. Huffine; his paternal grandmother, Arleen F. Lee; one aunt, Susie R. English; two uncles, Nelson Thomas Reynolds and Gordon Dennis Reynolds; two cousins, Clay Martin and Sloan M. Kim and a host of loving and faithful friends. Funeral services will be conducted noon, Saturday, October 15, 1994, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Dr. Robert G. Moore III, officiating. SHAFER, Dorris R., 83, of Christiansburg, died Thursday morning, October 13, 1994, in Shawsville nursing home following a long illness. She was the widow of Frank H. Shafer and a long time member of the Main Street Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Tom Cook, Derwood, Md., Karen and Ed Osterhuber of Pawleys Island, S.C.; one sister, Verna Burroughs of Sun City, Ariz; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday from the Richardson-Horne Chapel, conducted by the Rev. William E. Hungate with interment in Sunset Cemetery. WEBSTER, Arline Hickerson, 68, of Salem, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994, in Lewis Gale Hospital. She had been a long-time Salem resident and had retired from Roanoke College, Housekeeping Department after 17 years of service. She was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Alberti Webster, Jr. She is survived by a son, Danny Lowell Webster, Sr., Cape Canaveral, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra W. and Michael D. Sweet, Salem; three granchildren, Shawn Sweet, D.J. Webster and Brian Webster; a sister, Eunice H. Amos, Salem; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Bob Leighton, Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews. The family would like t o thank a special friend, Jeanie Weakley; a nurse from Housecall Health Care and their entire staff for all the special care and support they showed our family. WELCH, Elizabeth Brown, 76, of Fincastle, died Wednesday, October 12, 1994. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Fincastle, Willing Workers Club, and was dedicated to her family. She is survived by one son, Gary Wills Welch, Fincastle; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Betty and James Hickenbotham, Mary Louise and Houston Otey, Charline Toliver and close family friend, Douglas Burns, all of Fincastle, Henrietta and William Lawrence, Virginia Beach; one sister, Erma Mae Pierce, Catawba; a devoted niece, Josephine Thompson, Fincastle; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held, Saturday, October 15, 1994, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fincastle, with the Rev. Matthew Barnett officiating, interment will follow in the church cemetery
