The Cavaliers (12-1 overall, 12-1 in the district) got 10 points each from Kristen Lowe and Stacy Sloan to help Jefferson Forest come back after trailing by six at halftime.
Courtney Hurd led Staunton River (9-4, 9-4) with a game-high 25 points and eight steals. The Cavaliers held high-scoring Deana Mitchell to five points, but she did have seven assists and had eight steals.
Stephanie McCarty added 12 points for the Golden Eagles.

RINER - Auburn took advantage Shawsville's misfortunes and their own effective shooting to down the Shawnees in a Three Rivers District game.
Shawsville (6-7, 1-2), which dressed only seven players, couldn't stop the deft shooting of Auburn (8-5, 1-2). The Eagles made 13 of their first 15 attempts, including two three-pointers to take a 30-14 first-quarter lead.
The Shawnees' leading scorer and rebounder, Robin Burdette, was forced to sit out Thursday night's game after re-injuring her knee Tuesday. Her sister Beth Burdette scored 13 points and Brandy Alexander scored 12 for Shawsville.
Sherry Smith and Lori Lyons added 14 points each for the Eagles. Smith also had 10 assists and six rebounds; Lyons had 13 rebounds.

PEARISBURG - The Buffaloes, Timesland's top-ranked team, got an early wakeup call when they trailed 7-4. But that was the highlight for the Spartans, as Floyd County cruised in a matchup of Three Rivers District leaders.
The Buffaloes went on to take a 50-19 halftime lead behind Carrie Chaffin, who finished with a game-high 19 points. Laura Harman and Leigh-Ann Pursifull added 11 each to a balanced attack for Floyd County (15-0, 3-0).
Heather Wilburn scored seven points to lead Giles (9-4, 3-1), which lost starting center Gina Claytor to a separated shoulder Tuesday night in a victory over Shawsville.

ALTAVISTA - Liberty outscored the Colonels 19-3 from the free throw line to earn a Seminole District victory.
Felicia Miller made four of eight free throws and was Liberty's only double-figure scorer with 12. Shannon Shevitz, the league's leading 3-point scorer, had three 3-pointers and scored 13 for the Colonels (1-13, 1-13). Liberty is 10-4, 10-4.

MAX MEADOWS - Jaclyn Dickens scored 11 points to lead four Galax players in double figures as the Maroon Tide remained undefeated in the Mountain Empire District with a victory over the Pioneers.
Galax got 10 points each from Tammy Cox, the second leading scorer in the Timesland, Erin Kyle, and Tiffany Williams.
The Maroon Tide led by as many as 17 in the second half, but the Pioneers (2-11, 1-3) managed to cut that to seven in the fourth quarter. Amy Lyons led the comeback scoring eight of her 12 points in the fourth and Trish Stewart scored seven of her game-high 17.
Jenny Porter added 12 for the Pioneers.

BLAND - The Green Wave bolted to a 24-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Rockets.
Suzanne Webb had 15 points and Melissa Lucas added 13 for Narrows.
Bland dropped to 0-10.
