TROUTVILLE MAN DIES IN CRASH OF HELICOPTER

A Troutville man was killed Saturday morning in Lee County when the helicopter he was operating struck a power line and plummeted to the ground.

Randall Allen Hill, 28, was spraying defoliant around power lines along Virginia 621 about two miles north of Ben Hur when the helicopter hit one of the lines and crashed in the road and a private yard, according to a Virginia State Police report.

The report said Hill was taken to Lee County Community Hospital in critical condition, and that he died later in the day.

Hill was alone in the helicopter.

The report did not say who owned the helicopter or for whom Hill was working.
