HEAD FOR THE CITY, WILL SPECIALIST

Q: I live in a small town in Southwest Virginia, and I'm having a heck of a time getting a living trust prepared. I've talked to lawyers here, but they don't want to do it. I don't think they know how. How do you find a competent lawyer to make a living trust?

A: You need a specialist in the field of wills and estates, and that means you must consult with a law firm of some size in a bigger town. Look in larger places such as Abingdon and Pulaski, or you may want to make the trip to Roanoke, where you will find many lawyers specializing in that field. Ask about the firm's expertise when you call for an appointment.
