AGNOR, Ada Frances McCulley, 76, of Clifton Forge, died Thursday, October 13, 1994. Memorial services 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 1994, Nicely Funeral Home Chapel.

BUCHANAN, Cleveland Roosevelt, 58, of Pembroke, Va., died Sunday evening, October 16, 1994, in a Pearisburg hospital. Born in Giles County, Va. on July 23, 1936, he was a son of the late Wiley Blake Sr. and Anna Bell Collins Buchanan. As a youth he attended the Green Valley Methodist Church near Eggleston, Va. and was retired from Virginia Lime Co. at Kimballton, Va. Surviving are his wife, Caroline ``Callie'' Buchanan; three sons and two daughters-in-law, all of Pembroke, Robert and Paula Buchanan, Teddy Buchanan and Mary Perkins, Jeffery Buchanan; a daughter and son-in-law of Pearisburg, Christy and Wesley Mutter; two brothers, Wiley Blake Buchanan Jr., Pearisburg and W. H. Buchanan of Mesquite, Texas; a sister, Juanita B. Peck, Woodford, Va. and two grandchildren, Jennifer Marie and Megan Frances Buchanan, Pembroke. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke with burial in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

BUTT, Juanita DeMaio, 83 of Salem, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, at her home. She is survived by her daughter, Rita V. Butt, Salem; one son, James R. Butt, Seattle, WA.; one sister, Augustine Huber, Chesterfield, MI; two brothers, Carmine DeMaio, John DeMaio, Norfolk. A christian wake service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 1994 at 7 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Father Gregory Kandt officiating. Graveside services will be held, Wednesday, October 19, 1994, at 2 p.m. at Saint Mary's cemetery in Norfolk. Friends may call at Lotz Salem Chapel.

CLARK, Mabel Pitts, 92, of Edgewood Dr., Stanleytown, died Monday, October 17, 1994 in North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. Born September 21, 1902 in Blowing Rock, N.C., she was the daughter of Rowland and Sarah Green Pitts. She was the widow of Oscar Clifford Clark, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Levonda C. Hutchinson, and two sons, Terrell Clark and Norman Clark. She was a member of Stanleytown United Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marjorie) Stanley, of the home, Mrs. Joretta Griffith, Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. James (Kathryn) Kelly, Pulaski; two sons, Norvell O. Clark, Fieldale, W. Kenneth Clark, Robinsville, N. C.; 21 grandch ildren; one stepgrandchild; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stanleytown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Wickham officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. The body will be taken to her home at 3 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bassett Rescue Squad or Stanleytown United Methodist Church. Collins Funeral Services, Bassett, is in charge of arrangements.

COLES, David Everett Jr., 39, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, October 16, 1994. Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. Coles; parents, David E. Sr. and Yvonne Coles, all of Roanoke; three brothers, Donald Coles, Charlottesville, Troy and Samuel Coles, both of Roanoke; two sisters, Ruby Garrett, Dillwyn, Connie Austin, Roanoke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. CRUFF, William Edward, (``Billy''), 47, of Salem, passed away suddenly Sunday evening, October 16, 1994, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. He spent his life doing what he loved best, driving trucks. He was employed by the Exel Logistics of Greer, S.C. Surviving are his wife, Anita (Sherry) Cruff; three sons, Michael Cruff, Robert Cruff, and Justin Cruff; stepdaughter, Joy Beckner, all of Salem; a brother, Jesse Cruff, Ferrum; four sisters, Lellie Riggle, Kathy Cruff, both of Roanoke, Janice Mills, Salem, and Julie Klemm, Wilmington, Del.; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Troy Webb officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel.

EVERETT, Virgil Allen, 58, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, October 16, 1994. A service of rememberance will be conducted at a later date. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service.

FARIES, Stella Mae, of Roanoke, died in a local hospital on October 17, 1994, at the age of 93. Stella was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church and was a regular attendant at the Cave Spring United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Sizer-Engelby Class and a member of the Mary Youmans Fellowship. Stella was a retiree of the American Viscose Corporation as a paymaster. She is survived by two sisters, Frances Lois W. Dove, of Roanoke, and Mrs. Ida F. Murphy, of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Leslie G. Dove, of Roanoke. Stella moved to the D.C. area in 1964, to help make a home for her niece, Betsy Davis Douglass, now of Colfax, Washington and nephew Dav id A. Davis, now of Herndon, Va. following the death of their mother. Stella then moved with the children's father, WIlliam G. Davis to Belmont, Calif. and resided there until 1985. She then returned to Roanoke. There are many more nieces, nephews, other family members and friends surviving who will miss her. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 21, 1994. The Rev. WIlliam Logan will officiate. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.

GOPADZE, Illarion Ilia III, (Larion), 21, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, October 15, 1994. Born March 28, 1973 in Salem, he was the son of Illarion (Larry) Gopadze Jr., Mount Arlington, N.J. and Linda (Cissy) Holton. Larion had a love for the game of soccer. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Tonya Marina Gopadze, Salem, Ivy St.Clair Holton and Mary Theil Holton, both of Lynchburg; stepfather, Charles (Van) Holton; stepmother, Virginia L. Gopadze; maternal grandparents, George and Theo Peregoy of Salem and an aunt, Marina C. Gopadze of Lynchburg. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from St. Johns Episcopal Church by the Rev. William Parrish. GRIFFITH, Bobby Lee, 65, of the 2400 block of Farmers Ct., Virginia Beach, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, in his home. Mr. Griffith was born in Roanoke. He worked for Hermes Abrasives for 14 years. Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Hurt Griffith, formerly of Roanoke; two sons, Patrick William Griffith, Mark Stephen Griffith, both of Virginia Beach; his mother, Wavie Noell Griffith, Roanoke County; one granddaughter, Marissa Carney, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 1994, in Colonial Grove Memorial Park in Virginia Beach by Mr. Robert Crute. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family will receive friends at other times in their home at 2421 Farmers Ct. in Virginia Beach. HOUSER, Elizabeth Colmore Norcross, 63, of 1609 N. Augusta St., Staunton, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, at her residence. She was the wife of H. Ray Houser. Funeral service for Mrs. Houser will be conducted Tuesday, October 18, 1994, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the Old Providence A.R.P. Church Cemetery. KESSEL, Mrs. Haven, (Laura Sheets), 77, of 214 Frontier Drive, Staunton, died at midnight, Sunday, October 16, 1994, following an extended illness. Mrs. Kessel was the mother of Mrs. Ed (Jeanette) Berry of Calloway, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roy Hedrick officiating and the Rev. Bob Lamb assisting. Members of the family will receive friends at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 Tuesday evening.

LEWIS, Louise Franklin Mozingo, 78, of Blue Ridge, passed away Monday, October 17, 1994 at the home of her son. She was the widow of Orvin Jett Lewis. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Virginia Lewis, Blue Ridge; one sister, Evelyn Clarke, Warsaw; one brother-in-law, William H. Lewis, Farnham; granddaughter and husband, Janet and Jimmy Powers; great-grandchild J. J. Powers. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with memorial services to follow. Additional services will be held Thursday, in Heathsville,Va. from the Jones-Ash Funeral Home with burial in Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery. LEWIS, William Ernest, (``Bill""), 86, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, October 16, 1994. He was a member of the Millwrights and Carpenters Union, Local #2070, and a past member of Monterey Golf Club. Mr. Lewis was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Humphries Lewis; daughter, Joyce Lewis Gailey, Vinton; granddaughters, Wendy Shelton Bulifant, Richmond, Denise Shelton Proctor, Vinton; great-grandson, Aleck Taylor Proctor; brother, C. M. Lewis, Stockbridge, Ga.; many loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m., Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Carl V. Woodie. MARSHALL, Clara Belle Flinchum, 65, of Blacksburg, Va., passed away Monday, October 17, 1994 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was a retired employee of Wolverine Gasket Co. with 15 1/2 years of service. Survivors include, special friend, Jack Reedy, Riner; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Theresa Flinchum, Blacksburg; owner of TNT Flinchum Property Management; two daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Danny (Wanda) Honaker, Blacksburg, and Ellen F. Flinchum, Christiansburg; one brother, John Melvin Smith, McCoy; six sisters, Mrs. Bertha (Sis) Adkins, Mrs. Roxie (Mid) Flinchum, and Mrs. Lucy (Punch) Kessinger, all of McCoy, Va.; Mrs. Janie Simpkins, Pulaski, Mrs. Nora Flinchum, Christiansburg, and Mrs. Thelma Farmer, Orville, Wash; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. MAY, Mary Gilbert, 94, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, October 16, 1994. Mary was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church and was a former long time volunteer at the Roanoke United Methodist Home. She was a retired medical secretary and was the widow of Joseph C. May. Surviving are her two daughters, Katherine May Helsing, Durham, N.C., Doris May Anstey, Punta Gorda, Fla.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church Wednesday, October 19, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. D. Michael Meloy and Dr. George Wesley Jones officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. There will be no visitation at Oakey's South Chapel and the family will receive friends after the funeral service at the church.

MYERS, Marvin E., 92, of Blue Ridge, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, in the Blue Ridge Nursing Home where he resided. He was born May 16, 1902, in Iredell Co., N.C., to the late Gus Myers and Rebecca Moore Myers. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Estelle Coleman Myers in 1985. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jean Haynes, Bassett, Mrs. Betty Edwards, Martinsville; two sons, Doug Myers, Collinsville, Ronald Myers, Rocky Mt.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 1994, with Rev. Lawrence Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. PROFFIT, David A., 61, of Christiansburg, died Monday, October 17, 1994, in the V. A. Medical Center in Salem. He was preceded in death on September 25, 1994, by his brother, Phillip ``Elmo"" Proffit, Carson, Calif. Surviving are one daughter, Vickie Anderson; one son, Steven Proffit and three grandchildren, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Linda P. Lynn Effinger, Christiansburg, Jessie Simpkins, Radford; one brother, Douglas W. Proffitt, Shawsville; several nieces and nephews. REPASS, Zola Morehead, 88, of Bland, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, at her home. She was born in the Kimberling section of Bland County, October 28, 1905, a daughter of the late Lee Kyle and Emmarilla Miller Morehead and was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Repass and a daughter, Catherine R. DeBrick. She was a devout Christian and ever faithful member of the Bland United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Jim Aliff of Bluefield, W.Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Betty Repass of Roanoke, and Jacob A. and Norma Repass of Roanoke; a son-in-law, Eric DeBrick of Bluefield, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 1994, at the Bland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery in Bland. The family will receive friends at Newberry Funeral Home in Bland, from 6 to 9 p.m., on Tuesday, and they request that those who desire, may make memorial gifts to the Bland United Methodist Church. ROBERTSON, Gilbert Odell, 71, of Union Hall, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, at his home. He was the son of the late O. W. and Gracie Smith Robertson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post #6. Surviving are his wife, Alvia Mattox Robertson, of the home; one son, David Gilbert Robertson, Union Hall; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachel and Buford Young, Martinsville, Gloria and Frank Davis, Rocky Mount, Casteen and Junior Davis, Redwood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Buford and Belle Robertson, Penhook, Henry and Nellie Robertson, Rocky Mount; one granddaughter, Br andy Joyce Robertson, Roanoke; two uncles and one aunt, Harry Robertson, and Claude and Etta Robertson, all of Union Hall; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fannie and Sidney Hall, Glade Hill; several nieces and nephews. SMITH, Willie Eggleston, (Mrs.), 86, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 14, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Smith. Survivors include her sister, Bertha Rotan, Roanoke; a nephew, Bernie (Roberta) Mitchell, Roanoke; other relatives and friends. WHEAT, Bonnie Hall, 31, died Monday, October 17, 1994, NIDAY, Danny Lee Jr., 2, and NIDAY, SAMANTHA DAWN, 7 weeks, all of Elliston, died Sunday, October 16, 1994, as the result of an auto accident. Ms. Wheat is survived by one son, Nathan Wayne Wheat of Elliston; her parents, Charles and Charlotte Hall of Salem; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Lisa Hall III, Donnie and Jenny Hall, all of Elliston, Robert Hall of Salem; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen H. and Anthony Stout of Roanoke; stepsister, Jennifer Niday; seven nieces and nephews. The children are survived by their father, Danny Lee Niday, Sr.; brother, Nathan Wayne Wheat, both of Elliston; maternal grandparents, Charles and Charlotte Hall; paternal grandfather, Haden H.
