NEUHOFF FARMS RANKS 19TH IN U.S.

Roanoke County-based Neuhoff Farms Inc. has been ranked among the top 30 pork producers in the United States by Successful Farming magazine.

Neuhoff was listed by the magazine as the nation's 19th largest pork producer, with 14,000 sows. Ninety percent are located on Neuhoff's farms in North Carolina and 10 percent in Virginia.

Ranked as the nation's top pork producer, with 180,000 sows, was Murphy Family Farms of Rose Hill, N.C. Smithfield Foods Inc., Smithfield-based parent of Valleydale Foods Inc. of Salem, ranked seventh with 65,000 sows, a third of which are in Virginia.
