BAYSE, Nellie Mae Peale, 87, of Roanoke, died late Saturday, October 15, 1994, in the Montgomery County Regional Hospital. She was a retired employee of The Roanoke Times & World-News and an original trustee and charter member of Valley View Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clyde Bayse. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Bonnie Bayse, Louisville, Ky; three grandchildren, Steve, Rick and Chandra Bayse; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen P. Butner, Roanoke; and two devoted nieces and nephews, Al and Fran Martin, Roanoke and W. H. (Bill) and Lois Wade, Christiansburg; and two grand-nieces, Aldene and Anette Martin, Roanoke; also her special friends at Peppers Ferry Manor, Christiansburg. BISHOP, Warren Glen Jr., (``Peanut""), 33, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994, in a local hospital. CAMPBELL, Thelma Kathleen, 87, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994 in a local nursing home. She was the widow of Ryland C. Campbell and was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Dobbins and a son Clabearn J. Campbell. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack L. and Betty T. Campbell, Roanoke, and Gene H. and Arlene Campbell, Covington; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Floyd, Covington. CRINER, Henry Cline, 73, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, October 17, 1994, at Richfield Nursing Center in Salem. Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Henry and Tracy Criner, Roanoke, Jeffrey Criner, Roanoke; one grandson, Phillip Matthews; two brothers, Wendell Criner, Radford, Sgt. Dennis Criner, U.S. Army; seven sisters; Hasaba Spence, Floyd, Helen Bain, Jo Ann Sowers, Ibra Brookman, Rachel Simpkins, all of Radford; Margie Mannon, Fairlawn, Carol Whitlock, Hiwassee. DAVIS, Hilda Carolyn Kytchen, 68, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born in Montgomery County on January 16, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. ``Buster"" and Minnie Dove Kytchen, a daughter, Carolyn D. Ogle and one brother, William B. Kytchen. Survivors include her husband, Robert Earl Davis Jr.; four sons, Marvin Leroy Frazier, Newport, Charles Mason Frazier, Richmond, Robert Davis III, Roanoke and Dennis Davis, Blacksburg; tow daughters, Diane Quesenberry, Williamsburg, Sandra Sizemore, Richmond; two sisters, Nellie Piatek and Ruby Cal dwell; one brother, John H. Kytchen; one aunt, Irene Bailey, all of Blacksburg; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 1994, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dewey O Weaver Jr. officiating. DRAPER, Doris Oliver, 93, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994, in a local hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Asa Hunter Draper. Mrs. Draper was a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church and was a retired chief clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen Draper Woolwine of Roanoke; three granddaughters, Mary Lou Woolwine, Laura Leigh Woolwine, Anne Draper Woolwine, all of Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, Brian Matthew Woolwine, Miranda C. Woolwine; two sisters, Mary Oliver Wimmer, Kingsport, Tenn., Millicent Oliver Urquhart, Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Fair View Cemetery, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Dr. Gregory L. Adkins officiating. EBIN, Kathleen Ramsey, 77, of Salem, died Monday, October 17, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband John Joseph Ebin and is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Ebin, James Ebin, David and Sue Ebin; grandchildren, Freddie Ebin, Jennifer Ebin, Monica Ebin; sister, Sherileen Pentecost; devoted friends, Rebecca Williams, Mary Ann Yoakam and Carol Conway; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Wedesday at Lotz Roanoke Chapel by the Father Gregory Kandt. Burial will be held later at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. EUBANK, Nellie Elizabeth Montgomery, 61, of Big Island, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994, in Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg. She was the wife of Latane D. Eubank. Born in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late James Daniel Montgomery and the late Ollie Henson Montgomery. She was a member of Chestnut Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Jean Eubank. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Daniel D. Eubank and daughter-in-law, Sandra of Lynchburg; five daughters, Linda Eubank of Lynchburg, Sheila Goff of Big Island, Debra Kay Eubank of Lynchburg, Pam Karnes and son-in-law, Danny of Bedford, and Billie Ayers and son-in-law, Tommy of Big Island; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Montgomery, Bill Montgomery and Earnest Montgomery of Buena Vista; four sisters, Virginia Barton of Florida, Mattie Caton of Falls Church, Polly Ogden of Buena Vista and Carolyn Wise of Amherst. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Whitten Monelison Chapel in Madison Heights by the Rev. Bob Breeden, the Rev. Llewellyn Wade and the Rev. Ronnie Freeman. HARMAN, Perna Burgess, 94, native of Floyd and a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Blacksburg, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Surviving are his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Alvin Mitchell; two sisters-in-law, Ada Burgess and Lydia Burgess, all of Floyd; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Spradling officiating. Interment in the Burgess Cemetery. HORTON, Ruth Sowder, 54, of 5205 Wedgewood Rd., Lynchburg, died Monday, October 17, 1994, in Lynchburg General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Vic Horton. Born in Roanoke, March 11, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Eugene Ronald and Sarah Davis Sowder. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan H. and Dan Overstreet; two grandsons, Stuart Overstreet and Will Overstreet, all of Bedford; one brother, William Robert Sowder, Memphis, Tenn. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Virginia Memorial Park by the Rev. Ken Burger. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Mrs. Horton was very active in various animal rights organizations and for that reason the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either the SPCA or the Wildlife Federation.

KANODE, Lewis S. Jr., (``Rooster""), 67, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, October 17, 1994. He was the son of the late Lewis Singleton Kanode Sr. and Clara Hale Kanode. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Thomas Stone. He retired in 1988, after 30 years of service, with radio station WJJJ/WVVV. He was a well known local radio personality and a civic leader who loved his country roots and his community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Betty Dobbins Kanode, and family, including son and daughter-in-law, Kermit and Betty Kanode; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and David Stone; grandchildren, Clara and Abbey Stone, Courtney and Andrew Kanode, all of Christiansburg; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Zenna Hodge, Virginia and James Smith, Nancy and Curtis Ayers, all of Blacksburg, Hazel and Maynard Hodge, Christiansburg. He will be remembered by numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m . Thursday, October 20, 1994, at the Park United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Homer D. Sawyer and the Rev. Ronald Putnam, with burial in Sunset Cemetery. LITSCHERT, Robert J., 59, of Blacksburg, passed away Monday, October 17, 1994. Dr. Litschert was a Professor of Management at the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech. He was the son of the late Ralph Ashton and Ruth MacLaughlin Litschert and the brother of the late Susan Litschert Roskosz. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janice Benham Litschert; a daughter, Erin Elizabeth Litschert of Greenville, N.C.; and a son, John Christopher Litschert of Manitou Springs, Colo. Professor Litschert received a DBA in policy and administration from the University of Colorado, and an MBA from Indiana University. Since 1965, he had been a faculty member of Virginia Tech, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Strategic Management, Organization Theory, and Business Ethics. He chaired the Doctoral Dissertation Committees of 14 students and received the Pamplin College's Ph.D. Teaching Award in 1987. His research included comparative studies of the structure of strategic planning groups and examination of the nature and evolution of the strategy process. Professor Litschert served the Management Department in a variety of administrative and advising appointments, including nine years as department head. He had directed its graduate programs since 1989. He also served on numerous department, college, and university committees. He published numerous articles in scholarly journals, and authored textbooks and chapters for textbooks. He was a pioneer in the field of business ethics and created one of the first courses in th is area of study in the Department of Management. Professor Litschert remained active in both instructional innovation and scholarly research throughout his distinguished career. He was granted visiting professorships at Cambridge University and the University of Kent in Canterbury, England, and was a member of several professional and honor societies, including the Academy of Management. Professor Litschert was highly active in community service. He developed a report for the Town Planning Department as part of a management study for the Town of Blacksburg in 1973 and served in various capacities during the past dozen years on the Town Planning Commission, the Montgomery County Comprehensive Planning Committee, and the Bike and Sidewalk Committee. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the McCoy Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Virginia Tech War Memorial Chapel. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, gifts to the Robert J. Litschert Scholarship Fund, c/o University Development Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va. 24061. MAUPIN, Frank Leslie, 70, of Hardy, died Monday, October 17, 1994 at his home. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, with 20 years service having served in World War II and Korea. Surviving are his wife, Rachel Juanita Gusler Maupin; one daughter, Sandra Lee Gaddy, Reading, Pa.; one son, Daniel Wayne Maupin, Chesapeake; two sisters, Josephine Hoylton, Anna, Texas and Eunice Warner, Orange Park, Fla.; one brother, Beverly Maupin, Troutville; two grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth and Aaron Lee Gaddy, Reading, Pa. PASLEY, Bessie, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, October 17, 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harrison and Martha Kate Pasley. PORTERFIELD, MARY RUTH, 76, of Roanoke, died Monday, October 17, 1994, at her home. Porterfield; a brother, Roy Belcher. She is survived by a daughter, Nyoka J. ROBERTSON, Hazel Pasley, 74, of Roanoke, died in a Salem hospital Monday, October 17, 1994. She was a member of Belmont Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Thad Robertson; her parents, Bill and Zue (``Byrd'') Pasley; a grandson, Keith Baldwin. ROBERTSON, Rickey Allen, 38, of Pembroke, died Monday afternoon, October 17, 1994, near his home. Born in Giles County, Va., he was a son of Thomas E. and Hortense White Robertson of Pembroke. He was an employee of Kirk and Vass Insulation Co. and was a member of Castle Rock Baptist Church. Surviving are his parents; one son, Brian, Robertson; and one daughter, Kim Robertson, both of Pembroke; two brothers, Kyle Robertson, Rich Creek, and Tommy Robertson, Richmond; two sisters, Brenda Moser, Pembroke and Dreama Moser, Blacksburg. RYAN, Clyde R. Jr., 77, of Wytheville, died Tuesday, October 18, 1994 at his resident. He was a retired employee from the Appalachian Power Company ``Bluefield Office"". He was preceded in death by his Elizabeth Johnstone Ryan. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael Neel, Wytheville, Madeline and Jimmy Pike, Newport News; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde R. III and Dianna Ryan, Stephen E. and Carol Ryan, all of Wytheville; two brothers, Wilmer Ryan, Pulaski, Roger L. Ryan, Raleigh, N.C.; and seven grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was retired from Carilion Services Inc. He was preceded in death by his parents, William M. Skelton Sr. and Helen Wise Skelton; one brother, Col. Richard E. (Buddy) Skelton. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, D. Mark Skelton and Kathie Neel, Todd Skelton; former wife, Shirley Ann Tucker; one brother and his wife, William M. Skelton Jr. and Bettie S.
