BLACKSBURG - The New River Valley Friends of the Roanoke Symphony will sponsor its annual Blue Ridge Ball Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. in The German Club.
This year's theme is a Venetian masked ball. WSLS-TV's Bill Meck is the master of ceremonies. Victoria Bond is the evening's special guest.
The event includes cocktails, a buffet dinner, dancing and a silent auction.

Children and anger
BLACKSBURG - Janet Sawyers, professor of child development at Virginia Tech, will speak at an hour-long program on children and anger tonight at 7 p.m. at Rainbow Riders Clubhouse on Ramble Road.
Sawyers will explain aggression analysis and management techniques.
