THE ORDER OF ST. LUKE THE PHYSICIAN, an ecumenical Christian organization devoted to prayer for wholeness of body and spirit, will sponsor a workshop on Nov. 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, 1837 Grandin Road S.W. It will feature Lee Cantrell, a Korean-born artist and broadcaster, who will tell of overcoming a family crisis through prayer 20 years ago. Participants are to bring lunch. SALEM CHURCH OF CHRIST, 401 W. Main St., has scheduled revival services Sunday through Wednesday with Dave Thurman, minister of Catlin Church of Christ in Illinois, preaching. Sunday services will begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with those during the week at 7 p.m.

CHILDREN'S SABBATH, a national observance to call attention to the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of youngsters, will be observed in many Roanoke Valley congregations on Oct. 30. Last year, more than 4,000 congregations took part across America. Some churches used the observance to begin new ministries to help children.

THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY of the organization of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Roanoke, will be observed on Nov. 4, 13 and 19 with potluck dinners at the church. About one-third of the congregation will attend each celebration which will include fellowship, reports of ministries and the setting up of a census to learn more about the membership. THE SALEM COMMUNITY CLOTHING CLOSET, housed in First United Methodist Church downtown Salem, is seeking money donations to buy new shoes for its clients. Those needing shoes will receive a voucher redeemable at a discount department store. Checks may be made to United Methodist Women-FUMC designated Shoe Fund.

PEACE, LOVE & JOY, a gospel group that recently reorganized, will present a concert Saturday at Glorious Church of God In Christ, 1830 Hanover Ave. N.W., at 7:30 p.m. April White Johnson, Arlene White and Penni White Sanderson started singing together in 1977 when they were 12 years old. The trio sang a few years before breaking up. After several attempts, the group was reorganized and now includes musicians and more singers.
