EATERY CHANGES CONTINUE IN PULASKI

A new restaurant has opened on Pulaski's Main Street, a restaurant just off Main has closed, and a third has moved to a new location on Main in the eastern part of town.

The latest new restaurant to open is Granny's Courthouse Cafe, operated at 20 W. Main St. by Phyllis Proffitt and Darin McGlothlin. It is the third restaurant to occupy the quarters in the past two years.

It will specialize in breakfasts and lunches, providing sandwiches, salads, desserts and various specials Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Main Street Cafe, which had been located at 85 W. Main St. in the former Hercules Restaurant, has moved farther east on Main along Virginia 99 to the former quarters of the Master Chef.

Meanwhile, Ellery's Blues and More, a restaurant on Washington Avenue which also offered musical entertainment, closed earlier this year and apparently is gone forever.

``As far as I'm concerned, it is,'' said George Penn, one of the partners and the prime mover in the enterprise. ``We didn't get the response for the venture that we hoped for.'' He said there always is the chance that somebody else might want to make a try at it.
