2 CHARGED IN ROBBERY IN BLACKSBURG

A Pulaski woman and a teen-ager have been charged with robbery after two Blacksburg women were assaulted on College Avenue early Thursday.

Blacksburg police said two Virginia Tech students were walking home at about 1 a.m. when three females approached them in front of Carol Lee Donuts and assaulted them.

Words and blows were exchanged and one of the victims had a 14-karat gold rope chain necklace pulled from her neck, said Sgt. J.A. Bowyer. The victims did not know their attackers, he said.

Nicole F. Beard, 18, of the 700 block of Bland Street in Pulaski, was charged with robbery. A robbery petition also was obtained against the 17-year-old girl. Police had not yet obtained the identity of the third attacker Thursday afternoon.
