NS OPENS TERMINAL IN KANSAS CITY

Norfolk Southern Corp. said Thursday it has begun operating a new $12 million intermodal terminal in Kansas City, Mo., serving two daily trains between Kansas City and Columbus, Ohio.

The ramp is fully-mechanized and has two unloading tracks which can handle 48 rail cars up to 89 feet long. Parking is available for 300 trailers and 264 stacked containers.

NS offers its new terminal as an interchange gateway for western railroads to use in shipping intermodal freight to and from eastern states and Canadian provinces.
