DENNIS JAMES SPEAKS AT ROANOKE CONFERENCE

Game show host Dennis James will speak Oct. 28 at Holiday Inn Tanglewood at a seminar on heart disease and stroke and how they relate to aging.

The conference, which is sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Heart Association with a grant from Roanoke Memorial Regional Heart Center, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.. It is aimed at adults age 50 and above.

James, who is remembered for such television shows as "Name That Tune," suffered a heart attack in 1987. He will speak on how that changed his life.

In addition to James' talk, area physicians and other health care workers will lead workshops on risk management for heart disease and stroke, hypertension and healthy eating on a limited budget.

The conference and lunch cost $5. To have the fee waived, call the Heart Association at 989-2810, to arrange a scholarship. To register, call Carilion Physician Referral at 981-7641. Registration deadline is Oct. 25.
