DON'T PULL THE PLUG ON MUSEUMS

Sprinkled amid the good ideas in the draft report of the Governor's Commission on Government Reform are a few real clinkers. One of the clinkiest is the notion that the state should stop appropriating money to museums that aren't state agencies.

Such as? Well, the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke falls into that category. Or, for another exhibit, the Science Museum of Western Virginia, in Roanoke's Center in the Square.
