The scoring toss was the only pass attempt of the night for the Maroon Tide, and it was the last of the four touchdowns the teams scored in a span of 4 1/2 minutes.
Galax (3-4) took a 17-6 lead when Randy Ashworth scored on a 4-yard run and Andy Ashworth completed a conversion pass to Paul Orton with 5:14 remaining.
Floyd County (3-4) came back and took the lead on two touchdown passes from Dwayne Hale to Jason Pratt. The first was a 26-yard strike with 4:31 remaining. The Buffaloes recovered an onside kick and scored on a 29-yard Hale-to-Pratt throw and Hale conversion run to go up 20-17 with 3:00 left.
Galax began its last drive at the 50-yard line and moved downfield behind the running of Chris White, who finished with 191 yards - 111 of them in the second half. After White carried to the 16-yard line, Andy Ashworth attempted his only pass of the night and hit Randy with the game-winner.
Hale completed eight of 14 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns, including an 8-yard scoring pass to Robert Favre in the first quarter.

SHAWSVILLE - Chucky Hubbard caught a pair of touchdown passes and Clancy Woodrum led a tough Bobcats defense with three interceptions as Radford routed the Shawnees in the Three Rivers District.
Foster Ridpath connected with Hubbard on both scoring tosses, and Marlon Wesley paced the Bobcats' ground game with 93 yards on only five carries.
Derrick Chapman finished the scoring for Radford (5-2 overall, 1-1 in the district) with an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Shawsville (1-6, 0-3) scored its only points on Scott Holleman's interception return.
Abingdon 36
Carroll County 22
HILLSVILLE - The Falcons (6-2) scored in the air, on the ground, off fumbles and through the uprights as they rolled over the Cavaliers (1-7) in non-district acion.
Garrett Jackson started Abingdon's scoring when he tossed the first of his two touchdown passes of the night. Jackson also ran for a touchdown to lead the charge.
Brian Fanis and D.J. Frye were on the receiving ends of Jackson's touchdown strikes.
Mike Price recovered a Carroll County fumble and galloped 27 yards for the score. Brad Hankey booted a field goal from 19 yards and Scott Moretz ran for a touchdown to help the Falcons.
The Cavaliers took the early lead when Barry Stockner trotted in from 3 yards. Carroll County again scored when Jake Beamer broke loose and galloped almost half the length of the field on a 49-yard run in the second quarter.
Kevin Daulton caught the Abingdon defense off-guard on a fourth down when he fired a 28-yard pass on a halfback option pass to Greg Williams. A two-point conversion pass made the score 23-22 before Abingdon pulled away for the victory.
