ALBERT, Jack Gordon, Chief Warrant Officer-W-4, 66, of McCoy, died Friday, October 21, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on December 21, 1927. CWO Albert entered the Coast Guard in 1946 and retired with 30 years service. He was appointed the rank of CWO-4 in 1971, awarded the Bronze Star in 1967, the Navy Expeditionary Medal in 1966, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal in 1966. After retirement, he was employed with Litton Amecon Industries for 10 years and also a Licensed Real Estate Agent in the state of Maryland. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and a member at large of the V.F.W., also a member of the A.R.R.P. Association, a member and past treasurer of Longshop/McCoy Rurtian Club and a member of Centennial Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Alva Lee Albert. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth McCoy Albert; three sons, Commander Jack G. Albert, Jr. and wife, Judy, Governor's Island, N.Y., William Lee ``Bill"" Albert and wife, Maureen, Eureka, Mo., Chief Petty Officer Michael Albert and wife, Patty, Cape Cod, Mass.; three daughters, Susan A. Horty and husband, Tony, Bowie, Md., Patricia A. Medina and husband, Eric, Alexandria, Va., Mary A. BROADY, Lonnie Johnson, 92, of 1543 Golfside Ave., NW, Roanoke, passed away Thursday, October 20, 1994, unexpectedly, at her home. She was the widow of Frank C. Broady Sr. She was a Deaconess at High Street Baptist Church and a member of the Philathea Sunday School Class. One son, Frank C. Broady Jr. preceded her in death by several years. CARRIER, Willie (``Billie''), of Roanoke, passed away Friday, October 21, 1994, at a local hosptial. She was a member of the Windsor Hills United Methodist Church and was retired from the U. S. Forest Service. Her life was devoted to family care. Surviving are her husband, Ralph E. Carrier; son and daughter-in-law, Richard W. and Patricia G. Carrier of Anderson, S.C.; two grandchildren, Erin Heather Carrier and Shawn David Carrier both of Hampton, Va. CHISHOLM, Rita Christine, 82, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, October 19, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was born in New York City, July 22, 1912, daughter of the late Angus and Christine Chisholm, and grew up in nearby Peekskill, N.Y. Miss Chisholm was associate professor emeritus of community health after 16 years with School of Nursing, University of Rochester. She was a graduate of Cornell University-New York Hospital School of Nursing in New York City; receiving from Teachers' College-Columbia University, New York City both a B.S. in public health nursing, and an M.A. in supervision of public health nursing. Prior to her work with University of Rochester, Miss Chisholm was a hospital staff nurse, a private duty nurse, an Army nurse during World War II, and a supervisory nurse with the N.Y. State and with several counties' depts. of health. She was on the faculty at Nazareth College, 1958-61; and, she was a Fellow of the American Public Health Association. She had lived in Blacksburg since 1980; she is survived by her sister, Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Abbott of Blacksburg; two nephews, Ward Andrew Posey of Bonita Springs, Fla., and John Posey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a niece, Rita May Posey Bruno of St. Petersburg, Fla. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 1994, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 706 Harding Ave., Blacksburg, with Rev. Paul Gallagher officiating. GILKESON, Francis Carlisle, 83, of Fairfield, died Friday, October 21, 1994. Mr. Gilkeson was born November 8, 1910 in Mississippi, a son of the late Carlisle Gilkeson and Elizabeth Smith Gilkeson. LEVINE, Muriel, 64, of Roanoke, died Saturday, October 22, 1994, after an 11 year illness. Muriel was the devoted wife and partner for 45 years of Burton Levine, who survives her. She was Vice-President of and partner with her husband in the operation of WROV radio from 1955 until her illness.. She was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue and a lifetime member of Hadassah. Muriel was a nurturing mother, who opened herself and her home to others in need. Murie l was a founder of Community School and of Yeled Nursery School. She was a great believer in children and in education, and leaves a legacy of love and caring. She is also survived by her parents, Lou and Rose Poller of Miami; children (and spouses), Marc Levine, Edie Read, Karen Levine and Dennis Nowak, David and Sandy Levine, Rhona Levine and Gary Tate, Tobey Levine and Fred Stoddard, and Beth Levine. Also grandchildren, Sam and Jonathan Levine, Joe and Sara Nowak, Chris Vaughan and Allison D'Aurizio, and Adam, Hannah and Zachary Tate. She also leaves her sisters, Leah Poller and Nidra Poller; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jan and Judy Poller. McMANAWAY, Mary Margaret, 88, of Windsor Hills in Roanoke, died Monday, October 17, 1994, at her home. She had directed that her remains be donated to the Virginia Anatomical Gift Program and wished no memorial of her passing. Mrs. McManaway was born in Tazwell County, Va. on April 13, 1906, daughter of the late James B. and Margaret B. Catron. She graduated from Hollins College in the class of 1927 and taught music in Roanoke for many years. She was a member of Green Memorial Methodist Church, a long time member of Thursday Morning Music Club and was a Grey Lady Hosptial Volunteer for twenty five years. She was the wife of late Col. Fred McManaway USA (Ret). Surviving are a son, Col. James L. McManaway USMC (Ret), of Warren County, Virginia; a daughter, Dr. Margaret Carol Stenson of the University Idaho, and a son, Col. William F. McManaway USA of Fort Lewis, Washington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

PRILLAMAN, Harry Leonard Sr., 84, of Rt. 4, Bassett, died Friday, October 21, 1994, at his home. Born in the Philpott community of Henry County, December 7, 1909, he was a son of the late George Cabel Prillaman and Clora Adkins Prillaman. He was retired from DuPont with 27 years service and was a retired minister having been ordained in 1958. He founded Prillaman Baptist Chu rch, Franklin County, and also was pastor of Henry Baptist Church, Henry, and Ebenezer Baptist Church, Calloway. He was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church for 54 years; an honorary member and chaplain of Oak Level Ruritan Club; member of Woodman of the World; on Board of Directors of Piedmont Seniors of Virginia; and President of local chapter, AARP. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Velma Young Prillaman of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Joylee) Nickelston of Bassett; two sons, H. L. Prillaman, Jr. and Douglas A. (Doug) Prillaman, both of Bassett; two sisters, Christine P. Cannaday of Boones Mill, Mary P. Liggan of Hickory, N.C.; a brother, William David (Bill) Prillaman of Martinsville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; an aunt and several nieces and nephews. SHAPIRO, Ronald M., 54, died at his favorite place of residence in Lewes, Delaware on October 21, 1994 from lung cancer. He was also a resident of Washington, D.C. and Key West, Fla. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia, a longtime resident of Washington, D.C. and was a former school teacher in Charlottesville. He also held several government positions in Washington. He was an active supporter of the Columbia Hospital for Women, the Kennedy Center and the Whitman Walker Clinic. He was the son of the late Dr. Andrew D. Shapiro and Dorothy M. Shapiro of Roanoke. He is survived by five children and three grandchildren. WALKER, Marian C., 96, of Roanoke, died Friday, October 21, 1994, in a local nursing home. She was a member of Melrose Baptist Church and a long time sunday school teacher. Surviving are two sons, Harry Cash, Bluefield, W.Va., Paul Cash, Va. Beach; a step-daughter, Dorothy Felty, Roanoke; step-son, James M. Walker, Richmond; sister, Kay Wagner, Neavitt, Md.; also, 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel, 1 p.m. Monday, October 24, 1994, with the Rev. Larry E. Sprouse officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Oakey's North Chapel, 12 to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
WHITEHEAD, Claude Cahill, 92, of Route 2, Martinsville, died Friday, October 21, 1994 in a Martinsville nursing home. She was a daughter of the late Zachary and Florence Williams Cahill, was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her husband Roy S. Whitehead. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Gordon Washburn, Penhook; two sons, Allen Whitehead, Madison, Tenn., Morris Whitehead, Martinsville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jewell Edwards, Fieldale; one sister-in- law, Ruby Cahill, Martinsville. Funeral services will be conducted at Snow Creek Christian Church 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Conelle Reynolds, the Rev. Berlin Hanks, and the Rev. Terry Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Creek Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Route 5, Martinsville, VA, 24112. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Snow Creek Christian Church and other times at the homes of Hazel Washburn or Morris Whitehead. WOODY, William Foster, 96, of Marion, died Friday, October 21, 1994 in the Raleigh Court Health Care Center, Roanoke, VA. He was a member of the East End Baptist Church and was retired from Brunswick Corporation with 41 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fletcher Richardson Woody and a son, Merrill Woody. Surviving are two sons, W. S. Woody, Roanoke, Roger D. Woody, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and one daughter, Nina W. Crooks, Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Nelson Woody and the Rev. Paul Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 pm. at Barnett's Funeral Home.
WRIGHT, Dallie Ann Withers, departed this life on Friday, October 21, 1994, in Salem, Va. She was the widow of John F. Wright. Survivors includes mother, Margreed B. Withers; her children, Karen Wright-Ellis, Pamela Cooper, Winston D. Wright, Douglas A. Wright, Melinda W. Cunningham, Jennifer W. Carson, Mark E. Wright, Maxine and Clarissa Wright, Davon L. Wright; her mother-in-law, Mattie H. Wright; 12 grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Loretta T. Wright and Pamela Mitchell; two sons-in-law, Joseph J. Carson and John H. Cunningham; host of loving and devoted family and friends. Visitation will be Monday, October 24, 1994 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel.
