JAMES RIVER NIPS SHAWSVILLE 30-29

Heather Vines jumper at the buzzer gave James River a dramatic 30-29 victory over Shawsville on Monday night in non-district action.

After the Knights called back-to-back timeouts, Tiffany Cox inbounded the ball to Amy Sprinkle, who found Vines just inside the 3-point arc for the game-winner.

Vines and Sprinkle scored six points each to lead James River (4-13), which avenged a 64-35 loss this season at Shawsville.

Robin and Beth Burdette scored eight points each to lead the Shawnees (7-9).

How close was this one? The only quarter that didn't end with the score tied was the fourth.

Melinda Minnick scored 11 points and Meredith Wilson had 10 for Jefferson Forest (15-1, 15-1). Liberty was led by Becky Bryant's 12 points.

Christiansburg 52

Auburn 43

CHRISTIANSBURG - Kelly Dalton hit a 3-pointer from the right corner to stuff an Eagles rally and give the Blue Demons breathing room in a non-district victory.

Galax (13-3), which entertains Narrows tonight in a matchup of Mountain Empire District co-leaders, led 51-12 at halftime and was able to rest its starters in the second half.
