FOR THE RECORD

In a news story last week, police incorrectly identified the position of Michael Sanborn, who was charged with grand larceny after taking 51 tires from the Yokohama Tire Corp. Sanborn, of Roanoke County, is a part of management at the plant, police said Tuesday. Officials at the Yokohama Tire Corp. would not comment.

Because of a production error, the final sentence of the Tuesday Extra story on body piercing was cut off. Here is the story's final paragraph:

``I don't know what it'll be like when I'm 30, but I plan on leaving them in,'' he says. ``Of course I say that now because I'm a kid.''

Clarification

A story Oct. 15 reported that federal subsidy funding has been pulled from Center for Families that Work, a pilot program designed to help families find quality child care. It may not have been clear, however, that the subsidies still will be available to low-income families through the Virginia Department of Social Services.
