BLANKENSHIP, Lorine Reynolds, 81, of New Castle, formerly of Paint Bank, died Wednesday, October 26, 1994, at her home. She was a member of Rebecca Lodge #75, a member of the Paint Bank Fire Department and Rescue Squad Auxillary, a life member of the Ruritan Club, Boiling Springs, treasurer of Paint Bank Community Cemetery, and a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. She is survived by four sons, Randall Blankenship, Arlington, Charles Blankenship, Robert Blakenship, Marvin Blankenship, all of Richmond; three sisters, Pauline Doss, New Castle, Linda Harris, Beckley, W.Va, and Claudia Franklin; one brother, Robert Simmons, Baltimore, Md.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandsons. Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, 1994, 2 p.m. at Humphrey Chapel, Paint Bank, with interment in Paint Bank Community Cemetery. CASSELL, Louise Compton, 85, of Ceres, Va. died Wednesday, October 26, 1994, in Birdmont Health Care Center in Wytheville. She was born in Bland County, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Lula Kegley Compton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Bruce Cassell, and was the late member of her family. She was a retired school teacher after 37 years of service. She was a member of the Red Oak Union Church, the D. A. R. and the Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Joyce Cassell of Ceres, Va.; a granddaughter, Andrew Cassell of Wytheville, Va.; a grandson, Alan Cassell of Jonesville, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 1994, at the Newberry Funeral Home in Bland with the Rev. Dale Johnson and Rev. Frank Lyesly officiating. Interment will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Ceres, Va. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. they suggest that memorial donations may be made to the Ceres Fire Department. DELANEY, Gladys Powell, 82, of Cape May Court House, N.J., died on Sunday, October 23, 1994, in the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital, Cape May Court House. She was born in West Virginia and lived in Teaneck for 30 years before moving to Cape May Court House two years ago. She wa a school teacher in Virginia before becoming a clerical worker for the State of New York retiring in 1946. She is survived by a daughter, Doris E. Armstrong, Whitesboro, N.J.; two sisters, Viola Woods and Reginald Smith, both of Roanoke, Va., two brothers, John and Eddie Powell, both of Roanoke, Va.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 1994, at noon at the Christ Gospel Church, George and Anna Streets, Whitesboro, N.J. where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Household of Ruth Cemetery, Whitesboro, N. DUDLEY, Inez Virginia Pierce, 77, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 1994. She was the daughter of the late Jackson and Inez Pierce, and a retired hairdresser. Survivors one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Frazier, Bronx, N.Y.; granddaughter, Riquel Inez (Joseph) Als, Roanoke; sister, Mrs. Elsie Pierce Colvin, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, James Pierce, Ashville, N. DUNCAN, Curtis Julian Sr., 79, of Salem, died Tuesday, October 25, 1994, in a Salem hospital. He was a former employee of Magic City Motors and Sears Roebuck Co. In 1960 he opened his own business, as Duncans Lawnmower Service in Roanoke, in 1975 he received The Distinguished Gold Award for Outstanding Sales and Service of McCullock Chainsaws. He retired in 1983. He has been a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem since 1950. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle L. Amos Duncan of 58 years; son, Curtis J. Duncan, Jr., Salem; brother, Charles M. Duncan, Jr., Va. Beach; sister, Mrs. Harold (Muriel) Bolton, Clearwater, Fla.; Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 28, 1994, with Rev. Billy G. White Jr. and Rev. FAY, Mary Jo, Moorhead, 92, of Winchester, Ky., died Sunday, October 23, 1994. She was the wife of the late F. Hamilton Fay and the daughter of W. Paul and Mary St. Clair Moorhead. Mrs. Fay was educated in Minneapolis Public Schools, the University of Minnesota, and Trenton State College in New Jersey. She taught music in the Cranford, New Jersey Public Schools. Later she was an administrator with the American Red Cross in Roanoke from which she retired in 1967. She was a member of the AAUW and the DAR. Survivors include a daughter, Paula F. Coney, of Winchester, KY.; a son, John H. Fay, of Wheaton, MD.; six grandchildren, Robert S. Coney, III, of Lexington, KY, John H. Coney, of Bellevue, WA., D. Christopher Coney, of Louisville, KY., Richard M. Coney, of Ocoee, FL., Elizabeth F. Dierauf, of Ashville, N.C., and Martha G. Fay, of Richmond, VA.; and four great -grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Winchester, KY. on October 30, 1994.

FUNK, French Edward Jr., 53, of Marion, died Tuesday in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was employed by Graybeal Oil Company for 17 years and was currently employed by Rush Oil Company. Surviving are his wife, Linda Foster Funk, Marion; one daughter, Edna Renee Funk, Marion; one son, Justin Edward Funk, Marion. GOLDSMITH, Jean Stackpole, 62, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, October 25, 1994, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness with cancer. She was employed at Virginia Tech for 19 years, and was also a member of the Blacksburg Church of Christ. Mrs. Goldsmith is survived by her husband, Charles David Goldsmith; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Renee' G. and Kenneth Kovacs, Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ken Norris, Nutter Fort, W.Va.; brother and sister-in-law, William P. and Loretta Stackpole, Chambersburg, Pa.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and David Allman, Bridgeport, W.VA.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Jack Goldsmith, Menasha, WI, James and JoAnn Goldsmith, Parksburg, W.Va. GWYN, Linnie Horton, 72, of Cleveland, Tenn., died Tuesday, October 25, 1994. She was born in Hillsville and moved to Collinsville in 1963, where she lived for 27 years. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Gail Gwyn and Allen Sprouse; daughter, Debra Gwyn; grandson, George Aaron Gwyn Sprouse, all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Lois Grubb and Mozelle Wampler, both of Roanoke; and one brother, Harold Horton, Hillsville. HARLESS, Ollie Mae, 55, of Salem, died Tuesday, October 25, 1994, as the result of injuries received in an auto accident. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenney Largin. McABEE, Helen Patterson, 72, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, October 26, 1994. She was born and raised in Collierstown, Va. Surviving are five sons, Bill Downey, Houston, Texas, Charles McAbee, Michael McAbee, Richard McAbee, and David McAbee, all of Roanoke; three daughters, Helen Callaway, Houston, Texas, Patricia Martin, Hillsville, Barbara McAbee, Roanoke; a brother, Joseph Patterson, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Eggert, Cleveland, Ohio, and Elizabeth Dudley, Austin, Minn.; also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. MILLER, Beulah Fix, 86, of Lexington, died Tuesday, October 25, 1994, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born March 28, 1908, in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Roy McFaddin Fix and Nannie Green Armstrong Fix. Mrs. Miller was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and the widow of Ted R. Miller. Surviving are two brothers, Roy G. Fix, Lexington, Everett N. Fix, Lexington; one sister, Ethel Fix Barger, Buena Vista; several nieces and nephews. REESE, Lelia Violetta, 83, of Salem, died Wednesday, October 26, 1994. She was a lifelong Salem resident and had retired from Peacock Laundry and Dry Cleaning after many years of service. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters. SMALL, Christopher Columbus, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, October 24, 1994. He was the son of the late Cyrus and Louisa Small. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church, and was retired from the City of Roanoke with 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Wright Small. Survivors include his son, Christopher C. (Arlene) Small Jr., Roanoke; three daughters, Beatrice (Ralph) Drayton, Phoenix, Ariz., Queenie (Charles) Hill, Washington, D.C., and Mary Louise (James) Milling, Bowie, Md.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Willie Small, Roanoke, Marty Wigfall, Suffolk, and Tommy Wigfall, N.Y. SPRINKLE, Alton M., 53, of Blue Ridge, died Monday, October 24, 1994. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Sprinkle; stepmother, Laura Sprinkle of Colorado; and brother, Ronald Sprinkle, Spokane, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Barbara R. Sprinkle of the home. He is survived by his mother, Nellie Sprinkle. Also surviving are two daughters, Devrah Sprinkle of Blue Ridge, and Teresa Grindstaff of Franklin Co.; two sons, Timothy Sprinkle of Ridgeway, and Wayne Sprinkle of Collinsville; one brother, Malcolm Sprinkle of Columbus, Tenn. He is survived by one stepsister, Debbie Billington of Colorado; and mother-in-law, Lolene Robertson of Cosville; three nephews; and two nieces. He served nine years in the Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a service director of Magic City Ford with 12 years service. A private graveside service was held at Roselawn Burial Park, October 25, 1994, with Rev. WEDDLE, Joshua J., 77, of Galax, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 1994, at Twin County Community Hospital in Galax. Mr. Weddle was an Insurance Agent for United Family Life Insurance Company and affiliated with the Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd for many years. Survivors include wife, Dorothy Quesenberry Weddle, Galax; one son, Raymond Weddle, Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Freda Yancey, Maryland; two granddaughters, Rebecca West, Clover, S.C., Jennifer Weddle, Charlotte, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Barbara West, Clover, S.C.; two nephews, Paul Yancey and Everett Yancey, both of Maryland; one niece, Edna Bottorf, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Preston Wickline, Sr. and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
