Arsenal sets safety record

RADFORD - The Radford Army Ammunition Plant set a safety record of 973 days without a lost-time injury.

The plant's workers regularly handle hazardous materials used in the production of explosives.

"We achieved this through a total dedication to safety," said Mike Griffith, Hercules safety manager. "It's an all-time record."

The previous record was reached in February 1985.

New travel agency opens

CHRISTIANSBURG - Sol Ames of Blacksburg opened a Travel Agents International office in the Marketplace Shopping Center.

The full-service travel agency focuses on leisure, group, corporate and international travel.

The office is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Valley magazine to be published

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and Promedia Advertising and Marketing Consultant Services will produce the second annual Christiansburg-Montgomery County Quality of Life Magazine.

The chamber will distribute 5,000 copies of the magazine to businesses, newcomers to the area and visitors.
