BLACKSBURG - The Friends of the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library continues to seek members through its membership drive at area libraries and bookmobiles.
Membership dues are: $3 for individual; $5 for family; and $25 for clubs or businesses. Dues and fund-raisers help support children's activities, building projects, automation, adult programs and library furnishings.

Day care workshop
WYTHEVILLE - The Council of Community Services and the Council on Child Day Care and Early Childhood Programs will sponsor a family day care training workshop Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. in Grayson Hall Commons, Wytheville Community College.

Lecture on UFOs
BLACKSBURG - Robert Hastings, an independent UFO researcher, will give a free lecture on UFO history tonight at 8 in Squires Colonial Hall, Virginia Tech.
The lecture is based on previously classified documents obtained by researchers through the Freedom of Information Act.
'Walk to Remember'
BLACKSBURG - The Grief Support Group for parents who have experienced the loss of a child is sponsoring "A Walk to Remember," Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m., at Nellies Cave Park.
The Grief Support Group invites all parents, grandparents and friends of those who have lost children to participate.

Festival of Baskets
PEARISBURG - The Giles County Historical Society will sponsor a Festival of Baskets exhibit, Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30, 1-4 p.m., at the Andrew Johnston House and museum, 208 N. Main St.
Carol Reece and Harry Taylor, two local basket makers will demonstrate their basketry techniques on Saturday.
Private collections of antique baskets as well as contemporary baskets will be on display.
Admission fee for adults is $1. Students admitted free.
Persons interested in displaying their basket collections need to bring them today, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., or Friday, noon-5 p.m.
Skilled basket makers interested in participating in the festival should call Tony Williams, 921-1540.
